Almost ready to splash her. The CMI Tails didn't line up so I have a small delay until they are made again

MTGBIKER, WOW, that is a sweet lookin' engine room! I hope it runs as good as it looks!

BTW, mpower, are you running CMI too? I'm getting ready to install aftermarket exhaust on my 292 and just trying to make sure I catch all the angles! I haven't decided to go CMI, but still curious...

Thanks...Each dyno'd at 500 ponies plus some
I believe MOPOWER is running IMCO Powerflows on his 540cu inch motors. I can only imagine the acceleration his 272 has with over 625hp each.

Before I bought my 292, I looked at a 272 that have extensive engine mods with 454 blocks. I think it was pushing about 450hp each and that boat was unbelievable. I can only imagine how good both of yours will run. For that matter, the 272 is a great boat with stock 454 motors!

Man, that dyno is awesome! That looks like it has enough power to convert it to a single engine...at least until gas prices come down! Great job ya'll!

Mopower,

Dunked the 272 with the new motors for the first time this weekend. Ran it with 26 B-1's and she would not turn more than 4600 rpm at 67 mph (gps). Although the motors have dyno time only, I'm sure they need some time to loosen up some

Re-ran her with some 24p Quad-4's Hydromotives and she spooled up to 5000 rpm at 71 mph.

I want to turn these motors at 5800 but how low in pitch do you go to increase rpm's before loosing midrange and top- end. Trial and error......Trial and Error.....

I have a question:
I'm running the Holley 800, 4150 marine carbs. The throttle linkage was set-up from formula for the quadrajet's so there was a full range of motion at idle to wot at the levers.

NOW,

the levers have only 50% travel. Is there an adjustment at the levers to change/increase travel? I figured when you pulled the 330's, you experienced some of the same issues. Of course, the holley carborators may have shorter throw out of the box and I could be out of luck.

Pictures to follow soon..............

There is a small metal triangle bolted to the top of the Quadrajet linkage arm on the side of the carb. This extends the length of the arm and now requires more movement at the sticks.
