Default 2005 Fountain Executioner Vent

There is a small vent on the bow port side. What is this for?

I am getting ready to add one to mine and don't have a pop-up cleat or an anchor locker but I want the forward compartment to have a drain.

Is it a small circular drain? Do you have a picture? Call Fountain and ask them why it is there.

This is kind-of interesting. I've been getting water in the forward compartment (Under the v-berth). I tracked it down to the bow cleat leaking and the forward compatment (Behind the mirror) was not glassed, hence the water leaking down the hull line and stopping in the area below the v-berth.
So in a fit of anger, I cut access pannels in each of the compartments under the v-berth (To inspect for held water) and then sealed the area behind the mirror with epoxy and glass.
After having done all of this, is it necessary to have this "drain" or "nostril"?
