Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
The boat runs 90, big enough cockpit to keep the wife happy and it can have a bimini top. It only has 40 hours on it and still has factory warrenty until June 06. I can extend the factory warranty for a price. I have always bought new but the boat looks so nice. It is kept in a climate controlled garage and covered. I figure if I can save over $125,000 on it for 40 hours I am going to bite. He is willing to take my boat in on trade(less than I wanted for it but I will save $15,000 in taxes and his boat is priced right) He also will deliver the boat for free since he has to pick mine up. I have a Fountain 38 LX with trip 225 optimaxs now. I am wondering if the boat is too big? That is why he is selling it but he boats on lakes. I do my boating in Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. It weighs the sames as my boat and is a beam that is 1'5" less than mine but 9' longer. I was wondering if anyone on here owns one that could tell me what they like about and don't like about it. This is the boat. Thanks Mike

Re: Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
I have spent a fair amount of time on my buddy's 2004 and it has been a great boat. The engines run like a top and the boat will cruise at 75 with 8 people aboard. They did make some very slight changes to the 2006 hull, but the boat is as comfortable as any I've been on. The cabin is great and the AC and genset are a sweet addition for when it gets steamy-it is set up to run them at speed. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

Re: Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
I know Matthew well and have been on this boat. It runs great, is very comfortable and roomy, and handles the rough stuff amazingly well. He definitely has it priced right. In fact, it makes me wonder about what I paid for my 06 42 Executioner. I believe you would be very happy with it at that price, and if you boat in big water, you will definitely appreciate the extra length.

Re: Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
I too was with Memphis on matthew's 47 and it is absolutely as clean as it looks. I is one if not the best looking 47 fountain on the water in my opinion. Rides like a cadillac and has the performance of a 38 or 42. Matthew ALWAYS takes great care of his possessions. Good luck with the purchase!

The 47 of Shogrens, is flawless. :evilb: I drove it on the way back from the lunch stop, and also on sunday before we left for Chicago. If you'd like to talk to me, pm me with your phone # and I'll give you a call back. I can probablly answer any question you have about that 47. Thanks, Frank |
Re: Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
Remember, the cheapest part of boating is buying the boat

Re: Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
The 47 at Shogrens looks amazing with the tribal graphics. I have seen nothing but kind words about these guys. I wish you the best of luck with your purchase.
|
Re: Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
Don't get me wrong here, they are both sweet, but the Shogren boat is a little better looking.
|
Re: Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
Oh yeah one more thing, not for nuttin' but with a purchase of that magnitude It may be reassuring to know that you have dealer support after the sale. Also, they may even help if you ever decide to unload the boat down the road. With the volume of boats Shogrens sells, they may get you more money for your trade-in. just my .02

Mike, try giving Mid Missouri Yacht a call. I've got my insurance through them and they go through Merkel. Ask for Brandi Dye, she does the insurance. Her # is 573-302-0500. Her mom and dad have a big powered Fountain. :D
Good luck............Frank |

Hey Driven,
To answer your question from earlier in the thread, yes, Matthew's boat is as clean as it looks. Scott and I were on it at the Key West to Islamorada Poker Run in February. The boat is super clean and the graphics look great, in my opnion. I think they were done by the Art of Design. Very unique. The boat kept up with a Cigarette 46 Rough Rider across Biscayne Bay. Matthew does take excellent care of his boats. BTW, I pay $2300/year for insurance on my 2006 42 Executioner with 525's through Allstate here in TN. |

Try these...
1) Call Bob Luellen @ worldwide. 800-339-1235 http://www.worldwidemarineins.com/ 2) Call TOTAL DOLLAR ask for Sy Goldberg 1-888-226-4477. You can also do a serach under "insurance". |

I have even called companies that claim to insure performance boats and they could not do it. False advertising? |

Driven,
Open up a post in the general boating section of the forum about your insurance problem. You'll get a lot of input from other OSO members. Good luck, Chris |

Good luck, Chris Also I am going to go look at the boat at Shogrens. Thanks to 10X for posting the pictures of it and taking the time to talk to me about it. It seems all of you liked this boat better than the Pier 57 boat ( Thanks Matthew for taking the time to talk to me about your boat). So I showed the two pictures to a higher authority (the wife). She said she liked Shogrens boat way better. So it looks like a maybe finally getting out of the performance fish boats that I have owned for 10 years (Concept 22, Donzi 29, and the current Fountain 38 LX). I can not sleep because I have always wanted a true performance boat but let the wife talk me into the other ones. Hope to be part of the team soon. Mike |

In my opinion, they are a much more classy timeless design. I think if you plan on keep the boat for a lenght of time the tribal graphics will show their age because they are a fad. I would love to see Scott sell you a boat, he is a great guy. Just my .02 |

Being I did not win the 85 million dollar lottery last night I guess this will not happen.
I would love to be making the decision that you are. I just perfer the paint on the pier 57 boat. Like I said those graphics are sick! Good luck with your decision and purchase! |

Mike, What time are you coming in? I need to see Scott over the next few days so I thought if you need a ride from the airport to the dealership, I might be able to pick you up and take you there.
If it's still on for monday, just give me a call. Home # 708-579-5434 Cell# 708-870-2572 Frank |
Re: Thoughts on a 2005 47 with trip 525s?
Better bring a warm coat. The weather has been nice and warm but the lake is freezing. I was out last weekend, it ok at idle but when you get on plane its a whole different story. :evilb:
Good luck |

Home # 708-579-5434 Cell# 708-870-2572 Frank I am flying in at 8:55am to Midway and fly back out at 7:30 pm.I was told at that time in the morning it is crazy traffic heading to the airport but will be no problem heading away from the airport. So I rented car for the day so as not to impose on anyone, so thank you for the offer. But if you have nothing to do that day and want to go for a boat ride, dinner and then take me back to the airport let me know. I am taking to Scott to dinner at Bonefish Grill up there, I am a partner with them. Thank you Mike |
