I bought my 2005 42 new and love the boat. Had a 35 for 8 yrs prior.
You won't crush waves, but rather skip over them. The faster you go the better it will ride which takes some getting used to.

Pair A Dice was a 42 Lightning full pleasure version with no light lay-up. A 3rd bolster could be popped in front for the 3rd man when needed.

I do know since the large step 42 bottom came out there have been a few revisions to it due to racing and Reggies on going R&D.
