All my rails were white when I bought the boat. The rear handles had chips were each of the cockpit cover snaps hit them from putting the cover on. The side rails had a few chips from who knows what. The white always looked dirty. I removed all the rails, grab handles, and seat frames and stripped the PC'ing off and polished the rails to a mirror shine. Took me all winter, but I think it looks better with the SS shine. PLus no worries about chips and scratches now.

I like the look but agree with you. They do get dirty and is somewhat of a hassle. I love my SS on the 42.
