allows air to get under the hull to break the surface friction of the water and hull.............in turn this creates less drag and faster speeds..............

Steps acts as a horizontally positioned strake, which breaks the surface tension of the water allowing the boat hull to have less drag
They do not put air under the hull

I seem to recall a couple yrs ago where Fountain had a boat or 2 that had holes in the steps with a tube leading into the engine compartment to induce air in the step. Or to break the vaccum.

Whatever you see on a Fountain hull, it's to give it more speed.

Outerlimits did it as well, before I believe.

So no one does that anymore? I've never seen one. Maybe people just didn't like the idea of holes in the bottom of their boats.

Did it work?

I think Outerlimits still does it, but i'm not sure. I'll confirm it this week. I think it does work.
