Hey it's the 17 year old kid again! Thanks for the compliament on the Gladiator. I am not a 13 year old and know a hell of alot about boats. More than most on this forum. Run both boats and see what the speeds are. I have personally run, yes my 17 year old self, a 42 Fountain with 525's numerous times. The highest the boats has hit was 83.??? in the NYC poker run. With full fuel it struggles to hit 80 now. If you have a problem with getting REAL info from a kid then ask anyone at Ocean Performance, Lip-Ship performance, Xtreme Marine, or the Donzi factory. Do you want me to continue?? Hey, our Glad will out run any 38 Fountain with 525's and according to some ones recent sea trial on here a 35 with full fuel and 5 people. Maybe not on a light load by Fountain say's it goes 100+. Hmm which one will ride better?? I'll take the 36' 11" Cigarette over any 38/35 Fountain or 35/33 Fountain.

Yes the 42 Poker Run is faster, but no where near the same finish. We are actually considering a Poker Run boat next if the Glad sells, by the 42 Hull works very well. But when you look at it there are what 10 or so FNT poker run boats out there and there have almost been 50 Gladiators produced.

You would take whatever your dad bought and let you ride in.

There are a few used cigs on the market that I would take over most new fountains as well. There are also a few used outerlimits that I would take over most new Cigs. I think you are beating a dead horse here. Here is what we have learned.
1. Fountains are faster than Cigs.
2. Fountains cost less than Cigs.
3. Cigs finish is better.
4. Re-sale sucks on both in todays market.

I have ran a 575 stag Gladiator in some pretty sloppy stuff 95mph. It is a good running hull but it has its place. To say that it lays down the water better than a 42 lightning- please. Don't even go there. A Gladiator is fast but it should be- there is no cabin, no freeboard, and no cockpit. It is a race boat. My 38 with 500hps runs 81-82 depending on load all the time. A new 525 38 lightning is a solid low 90s boat. My friends has a 42 that touched 87 a few times. These numbers are undisputed. If you want to go fast just buy a 90mph 35 lighning with some black 496hos. Pretty impressive I don't care who makes it. Oh by the way I am 31 years old and have been driving High performance boats since before you were born so my credibility is undisputed as well. I thought this thread was about one mans quest to trade up to a 32 Fountain. How did this thread become a cig vs Fount. Thread?
