As already posted Ford, GMC or Dodge. 2500 series would probably handle it. Dont know how far you plan to tow. Thats only the half of it. Stopping it safely is the main concern. One may tow fast up hill or accelerate from a light faster, than the other. But they all have to stop it. Whatever you chose, make sure the trailer brakes work, and the truck can control it. I use a 00 F350 PSD. We tow a 38 Lightning with it. Its not the fastest but it gets us their. They are notorius for having front brake problems. Have had warped rotors 2 times ,turned by Ford and finally replaced. Nothing ruins you day like getting pushed through an intersection by your boat during a panick stop because of some idiot doing something stupid.

I tow my 35 Lightning Classic with a 2001 Ford 7.3 PowerStroke F350 4x4 Superduty. It tows great, stops good, and the 4 wheel drive is wonderful when pulling the boat out of the water. I went with single rear wheels so it would fit through car washes. I would not buy a Ford that has the 6.0 power stroke diesel, that engine has a very long history of problems and you would not want to own one that is not in warranty.
You will love towing with the diesel. I get 14-15 mpg on the road.

I always have 4x4's for towing my boats. Nothing funnier than watching a 2 WD truck smokin it's tires on a slick steep ramp. The Eagle trailerwith this boat has electric trailer brakes. I have never had them just surge type. They should help stop it. I think that is the most important part. Anyone have experience with these?

If you have the opportunity to upgrade to a Dually, DO IT. No question. There is no comparison to towing with a dually. I have an F-350 Dually with airbags installed, and it tows great. Wheelbase is also very important. The longer your truck, the more truck you have to control the load. As such, a Long Bed Crew Cab is best.

Dually, no questions asked. Sure, a single rear wheel will pull it, but the dually is so much safer. You will be able to tow as fast as you want and not have to worry about the rear end of the truck dancing around from side to side. Also, get a diesel.

I had a 00 f350 with the 7.3 diesel, and was the best truck i owned. I pulled a 40' gooseneck hauling a dozer and excavator. Last year i switched to a 06 6.0, no troubles yet, but very hard on fuel, I only get 12 MPG. My older truck got 14-17.

With a dually, if you get a flat on the front, and spare is flat, you can take a tire off the back, put it on the front, and ride the flat one back to town on the rear. I know from experience.

The boat was trashed as are most of the repo's we get. One motor blown, and gouges all over over the hull. As with any of the collateral we pick up they are liquidated quickly. This was about six months ago. We mostly repossess vehicles and boats are really the exception. Also unless you are willing to pay off the loan in full, lenders have to use "dealer auctions" in order to collect the deficiency balance from the debtor. Most loans are upside down making paying off the loan a bad deal. This customer owed about 150k and I think the credit union would have been lucky to get 100k for it. Trust me if there had been a deal there I would have taken it myself.
