Let's not confuse facts with assertions and implications. Yes, Fountain has the existing kilo and yes, Fountains have won a ton of races.

But that doesn't mean Outerlimits went to race in Europe because anyone there was somehow "afraid" of Fountain. If I recall, earlier this season:

1. Fountain beat Outerlimits (and others) in a race
2. Outerlimits beat Fountain (and others) in a race

In my neck of the woods, we call that a push.

Fountain's racing success also doesn't mean that Donzi, Cigarette and others bailed on racing because they were afraid of racing.

Maybe they thought offshore racing was a waste of their marketing money. Maybe they thought they could reach a much wider audience by taking their boats to poker runs.

No bash of Fountain or anyone else here, but the only facts in that ad concerned Fountain's achievements and that Cigarette had big engines and didn't break Fountain's kilo record. That's factual.

This so-called ad is simply a badly worded rant at every other performance builder.

Reggie is Reggie and, contrary to Apache Pete's assumption, he ain't that cool, and he does exhibit self esteem and ego issues.

His boats are no faster than a number of others, but they are generally smaller for a given length. His record speed was indeed a perfect example of weight to horsepower overcoming speed limitations. Yes he got away with running faster than Johnny, but in all honesty no vee bottom has any business running at those speeds in the first place.

At the end of the day the speed and dangers that they faced in their old open cockpit outboard tunnel boat racing days far exceed the oxygen equipped, safety cockpitted, 5 point harnessed, speed run that he and Ben experienced in the big Vee, and were far more impressive (deck to deck at 130+ in a 250 lb hull). However, Reggie learned long ago that those exploits are Greek to his legion of basically uninformed Offshore fans so he occasionally dons a helmet and jacket and plays 21st century Barnum to his target audience.

As long as no one gets hurt I guess there is no harm in this, but it is getting awfully tiresome having to listen to the chorus of cheers surrounding what is, at best, overblown self agrandizement and, at worst, a waste of shareholders' investment dollars.

at the end of the day dude you should silence the lamb.

try leading instead of following.

what you all fail to see is the fact of safety at speed. cigarettes spin like drunk fat women, skater has no real track record other than a porpouse built machine attempting to de thrown the proven factor.
race and pleasure are the same in the safety relm, and that should never be over looked.

and from a rigging standpoint , all that pretty gelcoat and wire hiding fiberglass does not reassure a good rig.
i have re-rigged many ol's , cigarettes, and skaters. skater does indeed take pride in their rig.

its a great cake because it has amazing icing.

Monstaa,

Of course, everyone is entitled to his opinion, regardless of how ill-informed and unsupported by the facts it might be.

But some of the gibberish you've typed here ... wow.

Skaters have no "real" (I'll spot you the "r") track record?" That isn't even worth responding to.

Cigarettes spin "like drunken fat women?" I'd say there are more than a few Cigarette owners who might disagree with you.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, but I'll take a wild guess:
A boat that is safe on the race course will be safe for recreational use.

If that's your point ... not always. As we all know, a lot of race boats are set up for speed ... big gears, aggressive drive heights, delicate center of gravity, all stuff that can make them a handful to drive for anyone other than an experienced racer.

T2X has driven his share of race boats. My guess is that he'd agree, at least to some extent.

If I missed your point, my bad. That said, it's not exactly clear.
