Fountain jumping cruisers wake

Funny stuff!
Someone accused me of being "un-safe" in this video because on the ride over from NJ to NYC we didn't have life jackets on...even though we weren't IN the poker run...
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...38926164987063
During the poker run vests were worn by everyone on the boat and the speed never went over 70 mph the whole run...
Oh well....you try and share...someone always has something to say...

[QUOTE=LubeJobs42;2338899]I thought it looked great! I use to love jumping wakes when i had outboard boats. My dad had a 48 Ocean and he would drive it so it made the biggest wake it possible could and we would follow him for miles jumping his wake. We would aim for the second wave, the one right behind the white water and trim it to the moon. Those were the good old days! Can't do that anymore! These stupid cats just don't jump wakes at all! Useless crap!!
As for being too close.... How are you going to hit the second wave and get any kind of air if you are any further away!!!DUH!! /QUOTE]
sure you can
, I was in a 24 skater and hit one it was like landing a caddy down a bumpy road, and also in a 30 trip spectra cat in a pokerrun 98,oh that same boat jumped a wake at the cape cod run in 97 and went over opps, the best was in the 1st OL 37 RACE BOAT in 95 nov 27th after kw worlds back on the cape we were running high 90s maybe 100 we jumped the wake of the ferry from MV i HAVE IT ON TAPE you could here pete peg the sticks and harry said holed on kid
it was piss ah cool, myself I STAY WAY BACK WHEN I OVER TAKE SOMEONE THATS ME. I find you have more waves to cross more fun , and if they don't see me or you coming and decide to make a u turn your save. that did happen to a friend last summer I SAW IT COMING and hit him in the arm and we just missed each other. the second boat was a friends wife she forgot something back at the dock and did not look before she started to turn we were going 60 she was at 25 so we were coming up quick on them. I saved 5 people off the cape cod canal that got swamped just out side by people who were passing to close and as I jumped in to the water to grab on of the kids a SF came right buy 6ft wake didn't slow down [dickhead] kept going. the boat was a bowrider maybe 16ft if that no L Js on the kids
after the CG got there we split because the 2 of us hit a rouge wake 1/2hour earlier and I hurt my back and damaged some ribs got thrown out and back in my boat
I new I was in trouble when I saw AIRTIME up side down

You do have the video titled NYC_PR 2007 .
So 1st thing comes to mind is you are in a Poker Run.
Next thing comes to mind in the 1st quarter of the video is no one has jackets on. Perhaps if you edited it and had two separate videos 1 for the actual run and 1 for your trip there, then there wouldn't be any misunderstanding.
BTW, at 9 minutes 43 seconds into the video, it appears you are doing the run.
Can you show us where the stern port side person's PFD is ? The camera passes him a few times and I still can't make it out.

Maybe it is just me but I don't see any center strap down his back if he was wearing an inflatable vest like the rest of you were. Hopefully he had it on for the run ....
If you feel the only time you need a vest on is during a poker run and you and your crew are safe during any other times at speed, it's your's and your passenger's call.
I'm not going to tell you how to boat.
I just hope one day we don't have to start a prayer thread for you or any of your crew....
And before anyone jumps on me about running in the NY Poker Run in 2001 & 2002, I know it may not have been the smartest thing I have done, but the only one I put in danger was myself and I took as many precautions as I possibly could to make it as safe as possible. Life vest, helmet, handheld VHF, whistle both attached to jacket, flares, extinguisher and a chase boat to stay with me incase of an incident. Start to finish 2 years in a row. Even beat some of the big boats back!

I wasn't going to push my luck for a 3rd year.
Happy boating !

It's required that everyone has either an inflatable pfd or a vest on for the run and I abide by the rules..... But since you asked, the passenger was wearing an auto inflatable lap vest he provided, which for that run is within the qualifications. He was also given the option to wear an orange jacket and he declined and decided to wear the left belt.
someone should buy you a big wooden paddle because you seem to enjoy stirring chit all the time. Frankly (yes that's my name), I think a lot of people have become tired of it...
How about the life vests that you didn't wear on the Hot Toddy run a few years ago in the 100 mph boat you were on....where you bummed a ride from my friend....because you don't have a boat....
Really just sick of all the comments already.....
Happy Photographing!!!
