I don't think you can shift into gear at 2500 rpm without welding the cones in the drive. You probably should shut off the engine, put it in gear and then re-start it.

yes, its not much of a problem, was aware of a few problems when talking to the seller(got one h**l of a deal) he had been messing with the timming added a msd timming control(advance only??) why i dont know, had some moisture in the v-covers so I did a quick tear down, removing the blower for now and installing a single carb intake. advancing the cam, just detuning some for the summer.

I always shift when engine is of.....well i did in my bravo boat.
U would need to disconnect the wires for the safety to do so ,,,,but it lasts allot longer that way .
but 2500 ?????,,,,there is something wrong,,,the cam can't be that radical.
I had a dragster cam in my boat before and it was @ 47 timing and @ 1200 RPM idle.
Something is not right !!! And it is not the blower.

I know its not the blower, have ran top fuel, top dragster and top alky for years, the problem is that the timing. is way retarded like 10* wants to pop back through intake under load. removed the blower for better driveability for the summer and enjoy the boat, this winter will remove and go through that way i know what I have. was just wondering about the gear rpm because I have run jet boats not out drives nevr had a problem with a jet. while on topic how strong and reliable are imco drives? thanks
