Not really I like to go fast. My eliminator is no speed demon at 94-97mph but it gets the heart pumping.

Its just kind of a lame day when you pin the throttles up to 79-81mph in a 42 foot boat. For the kind of money spent on a setup like that I would rather buy speed.

I'm not dowing the boat. Its awesome: big, rides good, awesome cabin. But if I was spending the money it would have 700's or bigger.

Sure with a leprechaun at the wheel, 10 gallons of fuel and running the boat down river....... Fountain always has been the king of "overly enthusiastic speed claims." Read any of their old ads, the * at the bottom of the page outlines there claims.

HEY! It's not so far-fetched...
I've heard of a leprechaun who runs (or ran... once) his fountain downriver with 10 gallons of fuel (and no doubt a tailwind) and then quotes this number as everyday speed... year after year, post after post...
conveniently no mention of the asterisk...

Mine also runs 1.3 MPH on GPS from the original report.

Who else puts a performance report out on each boat, in writing? Are they tested light, sure, are the results attainable in similar conditions when new. The Fountain I own will. Can everyone that gets behind the wheel duplicate the report. Most can, a few cannot. At least they tell you how the boat was tested and the conditions. As far as a disclaimer, who wouldnt put one in to protect themselves.
Show me another manufacture that is willing to do that.

No I agree 100% with what you said and like that Fountain puts a number on every boat. That being said there isn't a boater out there that will run the boat that way (no fuel, alone, no gear etc.) so that number is "overly enthuisiastic." If the boat even had 2 aboard, 1/2 tank of fuel and a 200 lb allowance of "boat junk" then get a number it would be more real world!

Not knocking Fountain, the EPA does the same thing with car mileage estimates. Highway numbers are figured at 55MPH and the a/c turned off.......not exactly real world either!
