Default 42 Fountain with 525's

Does anyone know how fast a 2007 42 Lightning with staggered 525's is. Hearing anywhere from upper 70's to mid 80's. Has no generator.

Fountainpowerboats.com says 88MPH+, there usually very close with claimed speeds.

My father has 2007 42 with stag 525's, xr drives (regular lowers), genny, ac/heat, big stereo. The boat is a solid 79-80 mph boat. Tried many different props from 4 blade Bravo's to 5 blade herrings. Boat is never faster than 81mph. We boat fresh water.

Test sheet from fountain shows higher speed but we can't get it. Boat is really underpowered with the 525's IMO. Slow to accelerate and slow top speed. Its like a big sport cruiser.

IMO that's horrible. If your going to spend that kind of money you need to be in the high 90's low 100's. These big boats are boring in the 80's.

Depends on the water wouldn't it?

I think Scott posted once that he was in a 38 with 700's but couldn't keep up with the 525 42's.

All depends on how you look at it, and what you are doing with the boat.
