I bought a 1988 Fountain in 1998 and still have the same boat. It started out with 496 cube big blocks with #2 speed masters and it now has a pair of 540 cube blown big blocks making 900 HP and @3A drives . This boat at 100 MPH handles like it is on a rail, this is one fine boat.

So I thought I answered the original question, in a fun and joking manner, also saying positive comments sticking up for fountain, reggie, and the sucky situation with the new owners. I admit I did not understand the original question was for fountain owners only. I still agree with everything I wrote. I love all powerboats and the lifestyle that goes with it. I feel proud that I did not personally attack anyone like I have been. I started all this so I am ending it. Never will I come back to the fountain section and feel welcome. Please now go on and enjoy your emotional hugging and counsleing session all fountain owners need to deal with this news. Anyone who wants to enjoy my funny, happy, smiling comments come on over to the general boating discussion area. Thanks!
Now now - lets not get our little feelings hurt.

42 hull best all around hull ever built. Used to get tweaked every year (who knows now...). But I love mine and huge sun deck.

I am also an owner who went from 33 Baja to 42 Fountain see detailed comments below:

2004 Baja 33 Outlaw 496 HO's with 28P Mercury Racing labbed Bravo 1's. Absolute maximum speed with a 2 mile straight away and every tweak I could manage was 72mph. The anytime top end was 68. Cockpit was large but was too big making the driving position too far forward making for a rougher ride. The boat planed and handled around the docks well and was pretty but was built on a budget. The engines were too close together and I needed mirrors and long grabber pickups to retrieve anything I dropped under them. The in gel graphics on the foredeck began to fade after one Texas summer. The mid cabin bilge pump was 2" above the bottom of the boat and I had to design a custom pickup. The factory Polk/MOMO subwoofers rattled the boat so bad they could never be played too loud. The stereo head unit from the factory was wired wrong and even after taking it back to the dealer twice I had to re wire it MYSELF to make the front, rear, left, right balance control work properly. The cabin materials were low budget and stained easily. In our first year 4 of the Carlisle tires on the factory trailer blew in a 3 hour period on on a July 4th trip from Houston to Austin (well, yes it was 104) but these were load range D. Screwed the trip up with all the delays.

2005 42 Fountain Executioner 525's with 30P BBlades labbed Maximus props max speed is 85mph with 82-83 seen anytime. And thats with 3/4 gas. Cockpit is fine for 5. Has vacu flush potti for the ladies. Boat planes fair but once up feels grand. Smooth and controlled and not choppy or rocking from side to side like the Baja. Staggered engines are very easy to service and maintain and I can retrieve anything from under them. Factory installed dual bilge pumps in rear. Huge sun deck, enough room for 5 people! Trailer has Goodyear load range E tires on their 6th year. Stereo not great but was wired properly from the factory. Huge cabin with nice materials. Hull solid as a rock. No fading of paint in 5 years. Easy fit cockpit cover from the factory is much easier to apply than the factory cover that came with my Baja.

Good for you its paid off. The last 42 fountain I bought new was done with a wire transfer of $280,000. I never had to "pay it off". When you get a little older come back and talk about your vast knowledge LOL

You know what gets me is that is about the same speed my 32 runs with HP500EFI motors.

10 more feet, 5000Lbs more and only 50 more HP.
Pretty cool.

BTW

The steps on the 32 changed sometime around 1999 / 2000 mine has the later one. Yet 5 years later the 42 pretty much will kill mine everywhere.

WOW!!! That is a GREAT DAY!!

In Missouri the Water Patrol would freak the hell out if they would have seen this. That is the "broken tail light" pull over on water with a ticket usually, along with checking you and everything on your boat.

That is a GREAT picture of a transom and I was not picking on you, just trying to lighten it up a little.

BTW... please tell all those ladies thank you for being you.

NICE Transom !!! LOL Last season I was idleing through the harbor on one engine, maybe going 3-4 mph at the best to not make any wake. Had 4 girls sitting on the back hatch with their legs in the boat and their feet on the back seat, just sitting on the top of the back of the rear seat. Passed a chicago police boat, and the J/O gets on the horn and says that they need to be all the way in the boat. WTF ??? I'm idleing, and nobody's hanging out the boat, but then this cruiser goes by with the front deck loaded with people laying all over the front deck, and the J/O don't say $hit. You go figure it out. LMAO

Oh, well back to the topic................... NICE hatch !!!

"a 43-foot sport boat, a greatly enhanced and up-tuned version."

"I haven’t upgraded the styling of either of those boats since 2004."

"We are going to be a custom boat company. That’s how I started, so I’m going back to my roots."

I am glad Reggie himself admits how outdated his old boats were, how they need to be more up scale like the competition, and how the current fountain is NOT a custom boat company but a production boat company!

So is everyone on here want to go bash Reggie like you did me? Or admit I was right! Well at least I got some entertainment watching everyone get all worked up! LOL!
