jana you might see if any oso might have a spare drive to let you try bobs machine shop in ruskin fla does about 300 a year if any one can get it off right they can if the previous owner put it on with epoxy your mech might can remove it if it's welded you will have to sand the case down to the metal and with a die grinder cut thewelds out thats why i reccommended bobs

Candyman - No, it's not from the factory. The guy I bought the boat from said he had it installed. I didn't ask him how or by whom. The drive has the 6 or so water pickup holes on each side above the torpedo and the paint isn't coming off.

Jana,
If you remove the nose cone you will probably still need some sort of low water pickup. My 97 had them factory installed and they still were not deep enough for the 35'.
I read a thread where F2 boats were plugging two of the holes on the new low water pickups and picking up mph. I added a bob's nose cone to my 251 Checkmate and the boat slowed down. I hate trial and error but it seems that’s the only way to figure some things out.

My drive has the same type of side pickups as the Alpha on my Donzi had. Water temp is OK and the pressure runs between 10 and 15 at normal cruising speeds. Is that too low that it would necessitate a low water pickup? I'm not looking to do major surgery until something breaks.

I looked at it briefly last weekend, but still have no idea how it was attached. They faired it in so well, I don't see any sort of seam. Back on the water this weekend with a borrowed prop and no spacers in my K-Planes. We'll see what that does.
