Default Fountain swim platforms

What's it mean when you see a Fountain with a flat transom like a modern day Outlaw instead of the normal integrated swin platform found on most? Does it mean it's really old - perhaps before the days of the integrated platform? Does it mean it's some kind of converted race boat? I didn't get a chance to see it up close or question the owner. Looked about 32-35 feet long.

They did the switch in 89 for the 42.
Don't know about the 38.
