I could but they cost extra. They are considered "high performance marine" nylock wing nuts, hence the price increase.

I wonder if their previous invoices read:
-high performance marine spark plugs
-high performance marine detonation kit
-high performance marine boost spike kit
-high performance marine fuel cut solenoid
-high performance marine lava-like piston kit
-high performance marine metal shavings injection kit
-high performance marine cylinder firing bypass kit
-high performance marine ticking time bomb clock
-high performance marine re-welded, vented, 496 block
-high performance marine A/F gauge w/10.8 reading 24/7
-high performance marine play dough rod kit
-high performance marine torque-til-tight head bolts
-high performance marine oil explosion velocity gauge
-high performance marine mustache ride

Here's a few more pics.
I'm drilling and tapping the 2 additional head bolts holes in the heads. These 2 bolts go through the lifter valley and into the bottom of the heads. That adds a 6th bolt hole to those 2 cylinders.

I find it much better to tune the engine on the dyno. We can put it through every possible scenerio and load imaginable. I'll start at 2000 rpm with no load. We will maintain 2000 rpm as the load increases until we are at wot at 2000 rpm. That allows us to sweep all the way through the entire throttle range and check the tune. We will then go up about 200-300 rpm and do it again. We'll do that through the entire rpm range of the engine. That is something you can't do in the boat. Usually the only thing that changes from dyno to boat is idle,in and out of gear and throttle tip in. Those items are easily tweaked in the boat.

When tuning in the boat, you can only tune where the boat can load the engine. You can't sweep like we do. That load can change day to day based on the amount of people, fuel, gear, etc. You could tune it one day under one condition and then it be off on another day under different conditions.

Hope that helps explain it a little.
Eddie

thanks !

Were you considering 1000+ hp 540's in your C/C?

That's like comparing apples to a vacuum cleaner. We are taking about engines that make over 1000 hp. Bet they wouldn't warranty the Verado's for 5 years if they made 700 hp.:lolhit:

You meant to say "Well over 1000hp" right? And I don't to hear any crap about needing 4 liters...lol. :readinghelp:

Young Performance 04-10-2012 07:29 AM

I was going to put "well over" but I didn't want to give you to much hope. Not to mention, I don't consider 1002 hp "well over" 1000 anyway.:lolhit:

He has talked a good talk up till now..Ill give him that....LOL. However, the proof will be when the finished product is running, and runs for more than 9 minutes...which is its previous record.

If it all comes together like Eddie says it will...then the real accolades aka :asskiss: will begin.

Im all your A$$holes are having a good laugh at my expense...:lolhit:

Eddie, do you port by hand or have a five axis setup?

Young Performance 04-10-2012 10:44 PM

The heads were CNC ported on a 5 axis by Brodix. What I'm doing is being done by hand now.

I'll be good a good lil boy & leave that comment alone..:fear:

:bunnydance::bunnydance::bunnydance:

Eddie doesn't sleep, I think he had his sleep valve removed as a child or something.. He's one of the few cats I know that keeps hours as bad as I do.. As a matter of fact if you look at the last 2 pics. of the ports on post #718 you can see the proof and one of his covetet flow secrets of "porting by moonlight"

Looking good & keep on truckin brotha !!!

Young Performance 04-11-2012 11:51 AM

Sleep is highly over-rated. I'll get all the sleep I ever need when I'm dead. RIght now, it's time to make money.

Just got back from visiting Eddie. I towed a buddy of mines Ftn down for Eddie to work on. Long Blocks will be 100% nxt Friday. Engines will then be painted and electrical done by the end of the following week. They shld be on the Dyno the first week in May.

I was only there for 6hrs but had a great time w Eddie and Travis and a lot of laughs. Thanks again YPM!

Eric

Young Performance 04-16-2012 10:08 AM

It was great to finally meet you guys. We did have a few laughs. Ya'll definitely have some issues:lolhit:

The engines are coming along. I stayed late on Saturday and powder coated the electronics brackets. We just started doing our own powder coating, so I was a little worried about how they would come out. However, they came out great. We did the bases in a shiny silver and the electronic plates in a flat black. I'll post some pics a little later.

Ya know, three days of coming back to read this entire thread because of the "what's gonna happen next" factor...WOW. That's all I can say!

Good luck to all involved, I know it can be a loooong road to success, I hope you are real close this time!

Dave...how does that 353 run with the mods you have? I have a buddy that has a 353 w 502's and some minor mods. Just curious as to how one with a legit set up like yours runs...cuz his is pretty slow...lol.

And thank you for the kind words....I think. :lolhit:

Here are a few pics of the electronics plates. We start with a large piece of 1/2" aluminum plate. After rough cutting it, we finish it up on the mill. Same goes for the upper plate, except that it's 1/4" aluminum.

We then drill and tap all of the holes for mounting the electronics. In the past we would either polish or paint them, but now we have the ability to powder coat them. The base bracket is done in a highly reflective silver and the upper plate is done in satin black.

These are some shots of the base bracket templete and the bracket being rough cut, milled and sanded for powder coating.

TRL, my motors are N/A low compression designed to run on pump gas, and truly a custom engine. I did all of the rigging myself, adding boxes and shorties. My engine builder is a close friend of mine and we have known each other for 25+ years, so when I decided to do this, his dyno was available to me for 30 days with the first engine to make the most out of what I had. We ended up getting around 650hp out of a 509 gen VI. After a long first summer learning several lessons , they have proven to be very reliable, efficient, and strong. This all started about 4 seasons ago and I am still trying some different combos on the drives, like spacers and props. I have been able to get the boat into the 90's and it seems to have no problem handling it. Who knows, superchargers some day and that elusive triple digits? Maybe!
