Eddie Correct me if Im wrong here...
We are going to 555ci....holes are to far out to hone...this should give us room for a couple more re-builds on down the line. We upgraded to Howard Rods...and I dont know if Eddie went with a Callies Crank or a Lunati...or Howard. Last we spoke he was weighing out the options on which one to go with. We will need a different cam...cam that is currently in motor is incorrect. Eddie feels that with the bottom end he is building..motors will be good up to 1200hp. We are hoping for close to 1000hp on this build. The heads will be the limiting factor. Once he flows the heads he can get a better idea on potential HP..as well as which cam he is gonna go with. We are also switching to a distributerless ignition.
Basically we are getting new rotating assembly, re-bore block, gaskets, bearings etc..and re-using blower...lol.

I have used their billet rods in a ton of 1000+ hp builds and have not had a lick of trouble. However, I have stayed away from the rods for a little while now. They switched machining facilities and there have been some bugs. They were having problems with the small ends of the rods in that they were machining them too large and the bushings didn't have enough press fit and were falling out. This all came from the owner himself. He actually told me to hold off on buying them for a while since he knows I buy quite a few and certianly don't want any problems. According to him, it's all good now but I think I want to wait a little longer. I was going to use them in 575 cat's engines but just wasn't comfortable yet. We are going to use Olivers in this build since they want enough bottom end for future upgrades in heads and blowers.
Just like the Howards rods, I have been very happy with the Howards cranks. There are no problems with them and I will be using them here.
You are correct Eric that we are going to 555 ci (4.560 bore). The cylinders have about .0085 clearance now before honing. They also have about .0005 taper from top to bottom and about the same out of round. They would just be entirely to large after honing. The larger bore will also help with unshrouding the valves and helping those mediocre heads to flow a little better. You are also spot on with the rest of it Eric. Once I know the flow of the heads then we can plan the rest.

Been following it myself. Best of luck to you on your project. Sounds to me like Eddie is the right builder for your application.

I've known Eddie a long time & he is one anal mofo!! your motors will be right!!! Many years ago he helped me build a 516 to put in my cat. We finished the install at 3am, fired it up & set the timing & idle. The next day I ran the tickfaw 200, 200 miles with zero issues!! That motor has over 400 hrs on it when I sold the boat. Thanks for the help Eddie!
