Default 42 Fountain Triples to Stagered Twins

Is it possible to convert from triples to stagared twins on a 42 Fountain? If so how much work are we talking about? Is it something to consider? I have a chance to buy a 42 set up for triples in almost perfect condition at a steal of a price but really want stagered twins. Any input from the experts would be great. Thanks.

Well, if RF says it can be done, who am I to be skeptic?
Otoh, rather than closing three big holes in a transom and make two others in different places, I'd look for one who was already built as staggered.
Aside from structural considerations, once everything is said and done, it might well be also less expensive...
Just a thought, anyway.
