Been working on a new fuel system. One with the capability of supporting whipples. Its important not only to achieve your pressure and flow but also maintain it on long pulls. Its recommended to run a 3/4 inch pickups with -12 line to water separator then -12 to pump. Also keeping pump no higher than the tank and also as close as possible. So we will be designing new mounting plates for the water separator and fuel pumps to be mounted on forward bulkhead. This will keep everything close and low. When imco built my tanks I had them use 3/4 inch pickups. When choosing filters make sure they can handle the flow and still achieve your needed micron rating. Then make sure your filter head doesn't restrict you down on flow. I run Caterpillar water separator so we are having to modify a peterson head to work with the filter thread. I'm going to use a Weldon pump. I probably will get this done before this summer so I can try it on my n/a engines.

Kwright, do you have a rough idea how far forward you had to move you engines forward for the 6s and trannies vs bravos?

I don't have exact measurements but it is around 8 inches. Also I have the m series transom assemblies, not sure if they are different measurements than the old 6 style.

Ouch!

Did it at least break clear or did it smack/damage anything on the boat when it let go?
