I believe that is the one I have saved on the DVR. It was on TV about a year ago or so.

Hope they work on quality control. Just had to have a new transom to the tune of 20k on my 90 hour
lift kept boat, because they never sealed up the exhaust cut outs. That said, love Reggie spent some time
chatting with him at the NYC boat show. Total passion for what he did.

So I thought that I loved the 29 until I purchased the 35. Know I like the 29 and love the 35. But there are times that I wish the cockpit area had more room even if it took away from the cabin area. Fountain held the speed record for a V hull for years. Than Outerlimits broke it by what? 4-5 miles an hour. So what Mr. Reggie Fountain designed and improved on lasted all that time he certainly did it right. So with that being said. Why is it that Fountain never messed around with the cat. hull design? In my humble opinion they would just capture a huge part of the market.

Fountain actually did do a few cats, remember the Fountain Scism?
It was a very brief collaboration with Randy Scism (MTI) I believe at a time when Scism needed factory space or something(?) and Reggie put his hand up and they built a couple of cats together. It wasn't really a Fountain but Reggie was still happy to put his name on it.

Always loved Fountains and I think Reggie is still a bit traditional and likes his V bottoms just like a lot of people here don't want a cat, many don't want a CC, some don't want outboards etc. That said, the factory is in business to make money, seems they believe the CC market is atrong so the performance boats have been sidelined. Maybe business will shift to cats one day but I'm sure it will be a business decision by the new owners and not a heartfelt passion!

When I bought my ZRC it was a side-by-side and I had a new transom put in so we could convert it a full stagger. I think it cost about 4K. What all did they do to justify $20K?

All new stringers up to the bulkhead. They did all the derigging and rigging.Had new exhaust tips with flanges. But maybe I paid to much. I don't know? Still it should be somthing I shouldn't have had to deal with. Multiple Fountains there having same thing done, but I don't know what their circumstances where.

4k sounds awful cheap to me. Got to be 1-2 k in materials there. At 120-150 an hour(going labor rate here) that would add up to only about 15-20 hours for the whole job. Never have done that kind of work but it seems pretty time consuming to do a proper job

Depends on how much you do. I derigged mine, transom/ stringers/ bulkhead was $4500.

Did some of the refitting and most paid for. All total with R&R motors I think I was in 14-16k.

You know as for a lot of fountains having issues, a lot of boats do. I think part of it is there were a ton of fountains made. What at one time more then 1 per day? We may hear about more but percentage of built would be something to know. How many formula fastecs have the deck separating?
