Will check it out, things are a bit slow on our end for May 15 but should pick up shortly. Take care and see you in May!

Still waiting for another foot of snow to melt before we can even get close to our boat. Looks like the intrest is growing. Can you give me the address of the motels and the zip codes so I can run them on map quest.

Hi, guys. Tripps sent me here. I don't have a Fountain, but I have a 29 Kryptonite. And I live 5 minutes from Oaklands. I'd be glad to run with you.

One piece of advice: If you want to do the run on the outside, do the outside part in the morning, and the inside part in the afternoon. Believe me, that's the way it works here. In the morning, the waters are usually calm, making the outside run a breeze. In the afternoon, wind kicks up ...

In the bay, you need to watch the tide a bit, low tide in Moriches Bay is at 3:48 on 5/15, so you want to be through before.

The nastiest parts of Shinnecock Bay have been freshly dredged.

PM for local advice.

Carney:

I know what you mean about the snow and cold...things were just starting to loosen up around here and we got hit with that last (I hope) blast of winter. Anyway, to recap, Holiday Inn at the Long Island Mac Arthur airport and the Radisson in Holtsville, NY. Rates are both $109.00 thru a discount deal I get with a local business. Info follows:

Holiday Inn Long Island Mac Arthur Airport
3485 Veterans Memorial Highway
Ronkonkoma, NY 11779
631-585-9500

Raddison Long Island Mac Arthur Airport
1730 North Ocean Avenue
Holtsville, NY 11742
631-758-2900

Again, Raddison is closer to the driver's meeting and the Holiday Inn is closer to the Heckshire State Park launching ramp...your choice. I will try and take some pictures of the parking areas at both locations and post them for review. In addition, I am working on a better rate at the Holiday Inn but will not have that information for a bit. I will keep you all posted.

Please let me know how many boats you anticipate will be in your party and if you have any additional questions or need more details.

Regards,

Gary

That sounds like a good plan, even early in season we still get more slop on the south shore in the afternoon than morning. I think we can kick it around on the thread and make a final decision at the driver's meeting on the 14th. What do you all think? Thanks for the info Peconic...how is your Kriptonite set up...always interested! Hope to see you in May, if not sooner.

Fire Island Inlet to Shinnecock Inlet is less than 50 miles.

So:

Early start, outside to Shinnecock, early lunch & gas at Oakland's. Leave Oakland's at 1pm and get back into GSB before the low tide at 4ish.

If the weather is iffy, do it all on the inside, but start an hour earlier, because the inside is slower (idle from WHB through Quogue.)
