Tricky919 - I am in, just waiting for you to start the thread.....
I do not know if this was a topic at the route meeting and this is by no means an organized or sanctioned event. However, if we get the turnout I expect, we WILL be a presence. That said, I would strongly recommend that all persons in all boats wear appropriate PFD's (a requirement in organized poker runs, etc.). As Steve has mentioned several times we want to have as much fun as possible but need to be responsible at the same time. Safety and courtesy to all should be the watchword...10 to 20 boats of this magnitude will draw quite a bit of attention and I would rather us be perceived as a group of sportsmen rather than lunatics. Hope you all agree.

Well said gferdon !!

Hi guys,I had to get in on this one,is what the southshore needs, a good place to go with a bunch of boats is the westhampton bar and grille, thats where the hottietoddy run goes to and i think they would welcome boaters, plenty of parking, good food and drink!! Tripps

You coming too Tripps???? Sounds like you live around the corner... In Babylon too... |
it"s to short of a run, it is a 15 minute ride from oakdale.

hey Nolimits,Yes I'm ready, what do you think about the place i mentioned?? Its about 5 miles east of the moriches inlet. Does anybody know the guy in massapequa that has or had a Fountain with 2 598 chevies built by either Ferrara or Sharioff?? Im looking to find him for some parts he told me about. Another spot to go to is Violets Cove just east of the William Floyd bridge, plenty of parking. Check out the superboat forum, most of my posting is on there even though i have a velocity:D :D :D Let Me know if you are having another meeting about the run,I'd like to join you guy's and spill some drinks!!!:D :D :D Tripps

This run sounds great. I'm in but need to know some more. I'll be towing from NW NJ, probably about a 3 hour ride to the launch site. If everyone's planning on leaving at 8:30am I'll probably opt to tow down on Friday night. Is there a place (Hotel) I could stay overnight? If so give me their number. I'm reachable at [email protected]. I'll be bringing my 2003 Fountain 27 Fever, with family.
So far this sounds great. Pat |
Hey Pat,we as a group can set you up with a hotel, and waterfront parking!!! either at my house or i'm quite sure nolimits will do the same for you, just look at a map and follow rt 109 to the end in Babylon and thats where we are!!!! I offered the same thing when we had superfest, for superboats and who ever showed up,so let us know!! There is also another big ramp and state park out east in Oakdale and there are some better hotels than in babylon cause the airport is there and they are nice. Let us know Tripps
pat - welcome, anything i can do to help just ask.
Hey Pat, Welcome!!
Gferdon (Gary) is researching and will provide Hotel names and numbers once he is through doing the leg work. We are meeting at 8:30 AM, but more importantly there is a drivers meeting scheduled for the 14th at the Sonoma Grill - 7:30 PM. THe purpose is to discuss predicted conditions, review the route, discuss fueling and firm up the times and meeting places. Getting here the night before would be optimal and if you can, recommended. If you PM me with your info (numbers and email address) I can keep you very much up to date. Welcome!! |
Pat,
Welcome to the run! I am in process of getting hotels that are close and offer decent rooms and ample parking for your rig...should have something very soon and will pass it on. Also, I work in Teterboro NJ, and commute back and forth on a regular basis. I have also towed my boats thru the Bronx on many occasions and will point out the problems with that issue as run time draws near. It is basically a matter of timing...more on that later. I will be meeting and coordinating all the people towing in to Heckshire State Park, again, I will provide as much info as I can with regard to costs, directions, best local gas stations to fuel up (but I would recommend you fuel in NJ - about .30 cents per gal less!) and the like. Looking forward to meeting you and the family...how many are you bringing? G- |
waiting on a phone call back from oaklands marina to acomadate us for lunch.
just got the call. doug oakland is avery nice man, he will be happy to take us in. he will be ready for us when we arrive. thank god thats taken care of.:D :D :D
Well as everyone is finding out the only thing Fast Fountain 35 likes more than boats is FOOD !!!
that eating is good for the compition , It really messes up there power to weight ratio.
Where is oaklands marina????? and food is imortant, cause cruisan on a mt belly sucks!!! Tripp[s
I would imagine that Oaklands is in Shinecock as agreed. I understand that going fast and his wife are Fastfountains main loves. Then food. Thank G-d Food is up there though, the Sonoma Grill were we had the route meeting was FF's pick and it was a total score!!
This is making me hungary!
the food is great the ,the veiw is great, and the have 93.
Thanks for making feel comfortable, Tripps, FastFountain35, NoLimits and Gferdon. I'll pm NoLimits my contact info and yes I'd be planning on getting out there in time for the Friday meeting (if traffic allows). I'll be traveling with my wife and two kids, 3 and 5, they love the boat. Looking forward to it.
