Hey guys,

I am a former Baja Outlaw owner who moved up to a 29 Fever this past November. I boat along the South shore of Long Island and would love to "sign up" for a "fun run". There are a number of very cool places to eat anywhere from Lindenhurst to the Hamptons and along Fire Island as well. I agree that shallow water can be a real issue in the Great South Bay even with a Chart GPS. But I think we could work that out by agreeing to follow those "who know" in certain spots before hand.

Maybe we could include an Ocean run as part of the day... From Moriches Inlet to Fire Island and then eat at Tequilla Jacks (Steel drums, very Island) by Atlantique.

There are several friends of mine who also seem interested but they are not Fountain owners... Which I understand is fine...

I am open to the North Shore as well... Just need a county ramp to launch from.

Count me in...
Steve

Hey Gary, I included a picture of the Fountain...

Hey Steve,

It was good talking with you Sunday. Glad you found the site and already signed up...i'm impressed! As mentioned, this is not limited to Fountains...all are welcome. Still have not nailed down a date, time and place. I am going to step up here and suggest that for this run we make it Great South Bay for reasons discussed. Also, we seem to have the bulk of interested parties on the South Shore. I also suggest that if this works well we do a North Shore run as soon as feesible, perhaps in June prior to the holiday. Now it's just a matter of a date and actual starting place to meet. I will arrange to meet any out of area guys at whatever public ramp we decide upon. My suggestion was Heckshire Park, cheap and dirty. I think FastFountain had some ideas too...let's hear 'em!

We must be kindred souls since I was going to suggest that same run...bayside eastbound out to Moriches Inlet and, weather and water permitting, oceanside westbound to Fire Island inlet and back to Tequilla Jacks. Good water all the way and a beautiful run. The only question I have is if any of the restaurants will be able to handle a large group? Let me know what you think...anyone.

Hopefully only three more months to go till we can uncover these beauties. Regards to all.

GF

Steve,

Here's mine. Talk with you soon.

Steve,

Forgot to mention that I love your graphics! BTW, did you get the bimini top? Also, I am sure you are aware that storage space is not Fountain's long suit. You might want to check out "Fountainclimber" he is a member who has done some really nice work on his 29, especially in the cabin. Later,

OK, now we're cookin'...I will plan on launching my boat from the Heckshire ramp and be there in plenty of time to help any unfamiliar types with launching and exit issues. The water at the entrance to the ramp can be tricky especially at low tide. Once you are 100' offshore you are good to go. We can pickup guys further east, like FastFountain35 (Moriches) and proceed on the decided upon route (still open for debate) I think if all the guys who will be coming by water and in the area of Heckshire would meet us there we can make that the starting point. Also, just inside the entrance is a very large cove that is completely bulkheaded and rarely occupied, especially early in the season. I bet we could put 30 go fast boats in that area! I would like to get a list of all interested parties when you all have the time. Right now the only people I am sure of, beside myself, is FastFountain35 and Nolimits. Anybody trailering in I will make a point of helping as much as possible with directions, etc. Looking forward to seeing all of you, whoever you are!

PS Let's start thinking dates...early May, mid May...whatcha' think? Should we plan a weather date (rain, wind, fog, crud...you know? Speak to me. Let's get some pics up too!

So Wetkitty42 makes it 4. I have two others interested at this point and awaiting more info from me.

I think the route going through both Moriches and Shinecock requires a lead follow situation - due to low water. I have never done the Shinecock either in or out and understand it can be tricky. Also, while the bay route between the two is beautiful, there is an abundance of no wake zones (Dune Road). Not a problem for me, but takes quite a bit of time. What time would we want to start?

Tequila Jacks has ample boat docking, but the Casino at Davis Park is better. The docks there hold 200 boats. Captian Bills in Bayshore also is a good place. (Fuel there as well) We need to check what resturants are open in early May. I would be willing to do that once we agree on an area.

The boat ramp at Heckscher is perfect. Easy to get too, holds lots of boats, calm protected waters, hose and bathroom facilities and ample parking for tow vehicle and trailers. Mark the routes you take on the way out (on GPS) because it can be hard to find your way back in. Also some shallow water if you approach it from the west. (check a chart - look for surfaced ramp west of Nicoll Pt). Not real hard, but certainly much easier once marked. We could either all meet in there or perhaps at the mouth of the Connetquot River around Nichols Pt. The water is calm and there is fuel there.

I like mid May better as it increases the chances of open resturants and gets more heat into the game. I prefer a Saturday with Sunday as the alternate.

Might I suggest that once we agree on a route that we attempt to document it. Any suggestions on that?

Anyway thats all I can think of right now.

Great boat Gary, the wife and I liked the graphics...
