32Storm......Yes , I bought it from Mike Legno who lives out in the country on Colby street on a 70 acre estate just west of Rochester NY. We went out there and bought this boat 2 weeks after 9/11. We ran it by his summer home which was around Holley? about 15 min N/W of his home around some marina that the owner had a 12 mtr Fountain with S/C engs right on lake Ontario. It's been a few years, would remember the guys name if I heard it though.
When we ran the boat on lake Ont, we had 7 people in it and the tanks just topped off, and it still ran 99/100 mph. That was 6000 rpm with the 26 P props. He did'nt realize that he had a 6000 chip in the msd soft touch rev limiters. I didnt either till the next spring when I pulled the engs to install the blowers.
Here is a pic of the engs when I bought it

Steve,

My serial no. is FGQ10249M84D. I have the maufacturer's statement of origin. The boat was transfered from Fountain to Autorama Sales Inc./Feltman High Performance Boats Oakgrove Marine Center Edgewater, Maryland. The model was "Perfect 10" with Fountain turbo motors #5 &#6 rated at 630 hp.
It was sold to a John Montague Jr. of Midlothian VA. The boat sold for $75k then. I'll keep working on the pic...

Thanks- Bryan

$75K seems like nothin now. Just think what it would cost today to duplicate that boat with the same powertrain. Probably atleast around 300-350K I spoke to the original owner of the 89 10 mtr that I currently own now, and he showed me a copy of the purchase order when he ordered this boat, is sold for $212K......15 yrs ago. Boy........... am I glad HE bought it new and not me.

Bryanspeedracer...
Your boat is the sister boat to mine. My boat also was sold to Feltman Powerboats.

B.K. at Fountain told me that both boats were sold for a package price of 125,000.00. The serial numbers on my engines are 3 & 4. These engines were built by Troy Dennis. I still run these engines but I have upped the power to 800 H.P. I freshen them up every year as this is my profession.

Did you get the SSM II drives with the boat? I am always looking for more spares.

This photo was taken in 1994, things have changed since then. I will have to take some new pictures in the spring after they are back in the boat.

Steve,

That pic is awesome. The no. 2's are still on the boat. They were rebuilt by speedmaster recently.

The original owner couldn't get insurance for the boat as it sat, so he had Fountain repaint it. Give me your email and I will send you a photo. I'd like to talk to you more about these boats. Can I call you o can you call me?

Thanks- Bryan

Bryan...
My e-mail address is [email protected].
You can call me at home 410-254-1019.

I may be able to help you with props if you need any. I have several sets of props for this set-up depending on what power you use.

Hey 10x: What HP were your motors w/o blowers when you bought the boat? Did you have a finished cabin? You mentioned a race boat prior.

DT42.....When I bought the boat it had fresh 598's that only made 700hp because he never had the EFI's properly set up for the combination he was running. He needed larger fuel injectors in the manifold, and a few other things. He did'nt really understand what needed to be done to them and neither did I. That's why I pulled them made some changes and installed the blowers.
This boat was custom built for a preacher from the east coast, named Jim Whittington. The first one of 3 he had Reggie make for him. The first time in the water it hit 104 mph at 4900 rpm with the 527 cu in Gentry twin turbo's. The preacher wanted to go faster so he made a deal with Reggie.
Jim Whittington let Reggie use his boat for Fountains personal research & development project. Reggie in turn promised the preacher that he would never be beaten by another V bottom on the water.
Both parties held their promise, and after a half a dozen changes to the hull, and 5 different pr's of eng/drive combo's they achieved their goal.
As a matter of fact........... the boat ran soo fast that Reggie used Jims boat to race. He also used the same boat to set a world speed KILO record in Sarasota Fla in 1989 of 117.8 mph. Back then Reggie called this boat the "preacher" boat.
And yes, it did have a cabin then and a double bolster. The newer style interior was installed later in 1990 after the boat was sold by the preacher.
