Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast

Hey Steve,

Just checking in, I am trying to hookup with the North Shore boys for a run this Thursday to Ct. or Port Washington. I don't think it will work due to work issues. I have a meeting in NYC @ 1000 and then back to Jersey and back to the Island. Things would have to be perfect for me to make it and they never are!

This weekend I will be around but most likely doing family things...I will give you a call. Talk with you soon.

Hey Vinnie,

You and Ron are the best... I have never experienced the kind of hospitality and service Mariner's Cove serves up.... You are by far the best servicing boat dealers, I have come across..... From now on, any referrals I give out are going your way.....
Please do not hesitate to use me as a reference.... It is great to have a NY Metro Fountain dealer who goes above and beyond....

By the way ... The Outstanding Resteraunt that Steve is referring to is Called Margarita Island and is located at 43 Canoe Place Rd. in Hampton Bays. Anyone who wished to try them please tell them Mariner's Cove referred you.
Thanks.

That's OK Steve, Vinnie was having difficulty with "restaurant"...

Vinnie: Finally got the chance to wring out my 29 yesterday still couldn't manage more than 70 with the old 26 Bravos, I am trying the 28's today. All else worked perfectly...thanks again for finding that difficult problem. Ask Ron where my 35 is!!!

Yeah I noticed that. My mind sometimes thinks faster than I can type so I mess letters up. Guess I will have to try using that spell check feature at the bottom.

Count me in.
Has anyone posted this in the general forum?
It's a great venue for all of us [performance boaters] to "show off" our stuff!
Great idea. See you all there!

Hey nolimits,
I started another thread over on the Superboat forum:

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...9528post999528

My count from the CT river is 3 Superboats, 5-6 total and growing.
Maybe Christian knows of a few more...

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast

Hi all,

Steve (Nolimits) is away on business but has been in contact with the powers that be at Claudio's. They were grousing a bit at our choice of weekends (tall ships), but relented in the end. We were strongly advised to make sure that we show up no later than 1115 for an 1130 docking...anything later will be a problem. Steve assured him we would make it so since it is in our own best interest to do so. Hope you are all looking forward to this run as much as I. See you all then.

Gary

PS Greg, are you still comin'?

nolimits 06-28-2004 08:10 AM

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast

Ok guys, time to wake up.... Went to Claudio's with Gferdon this Sunday and had a blast. It took us 2.5 hours to get there from Islip. What a drive, super boats, bikes and people there. Above all the food was great! Just fantastic a ride. :) Hope everyone is ready to go.

:eureka: It is critical that we get there no later than 11:30. Docking is tight and we will be rafting - so bring bumpers. Dragonfire, you'll need to get the big ones that boats use.... None of those Jetski bumpers..

We need to check in and discuss where we are starting from and what the plans are!! Tripps and friends are trailoring their boats (I think to the parking lot of Claudio's  ). Who is on the South run and who wants to meet in Babylon, then Hecksher? Peconic where will we meet you?? What's happening on the North side... WAKE UP!!! Check in.....

Steve + Gary,
Glad you had a good time..... I'll buy the Big Boy Bumpers.....
How was the wind on the way back???? I just blasted around the bay yesterday...
Drank with Capt Bob.... Went to Argyle with Rich and Leslie for dinner....
Steve , I can't tell you how great it is to have my boat on the lift... I feel like a human again... Not beholding to any one to splash my boat..... Even though I was paying $100 round trip, I felt Like I was on the pay no mind list.....

nolimits 06-28-2004 12:16 PM

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast

Duncan,
The water on the way back was snotty for sure. Mostly head on which the boat ate up. We hit 3 foot rollers and at 55 we had some ocassional air. No slamming at all, but it took concentration.

We went into the ocean via Moriches and came in through Shinecock. Did 58 the whole way over slow motion swells. Couldn't have been sweeter. The lock was open, which saved time. The Peconic was flat on the way to Claudio's. We took the Northern route there and the Southern route back. On the way back, once we turned West, we saw snot. Sucked a little coming in the the Great South Bay from Bellport Bay. Headed southwest, ran the valley and then the flats - it was a breeze....

Had a blast... Glad you had a good day too.....

Steve

Going to Claudio's tomorrow (Tuesday) night after work for a burger.
Weather is looking great! Should be fun!
Peconic, You out there? Your box is full...
We'll be there 6-6:30pm. I'll call if I don't here from you...

Nolimits, we are getting it together slowly. Check my thread on the Superboat Forum...

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast

Ditto all that Steve said vis' a vis' our run yesterday, it was great! I made the mistake of stopping to let mommy use the head and lost Steve. I proceeded to run on the north side of the bay and the full fury of mother nature...it was a rough run. Even getting the boat on the trailer was a chore. We got home, cleaned her up and collapsed for the evening! Old age is creeping up on me.

Looks like there will be no takers from the north shore in my neck of the woods. I plan to surrender my "Captain of the North Shore Gang" title and catch up with all of you at Heckshire ramp. Looking forward to seeing all of you then.

Duncan: I would have launched your boat for $75.00 a throw...still would have treated you like s**t though!! See ya' soon.

Port Jeff this weekend?

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast

cig1988...I don't understand your question??? The run is scheduled for Sat. 7/10. If you check the thread origin you will note that we were planning two routes which turned into three. South shore, North shore and later Connecticut (Old Saybrook). Unfortunately there have been no takers from the North shore as of yet. Where do you boat...Port Jeff (that is where I primarily launch). Let us know and we will make it happen.

I dock out of Mt. Sinai but been trailering it this season. Due to medical reasons I could'nt get the hydro-hoist in this year. The '89 Bullet has been up for sale and really can not make any future plans just in case it's gone. Just put the boat in Newsday last week and not 1 call. Still getting internet call's but alot of tire kickers. Once the '89 is gone I have the '88 Bullet which is shy of 1 engine.
Anyway, I'll be out in pirates cove this weekend, feel free to stop by and tie up if you like. Stan.

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast

jcap,

About a zillion (is that a word?) bed & breakfasts in the Greenport area but, due to the tall ships being in town, my guess is that rooms will be scarce. It can't hurt to call and check. You will also need to check on overnight berthing...Claudio's would be a good start, if not, there are several marinas right there. Another option is Shelter Island, probably heavily booked and pricey, but a nice place to hang out. Just type in Greenport and Shelter Is. on your browser and you will have options galore...good luck and hope to see you next week.

tripps,zz,
I'll hopefully be testing on the way to Claudio's.
Pulled the engine last night. Picking up a new gimbal today. Drive comes in on Wednesday. Going to be a mad scramble. But you never know....

jcap, lots of nice places to stay on the boat too.
If you don't find a place, 22 miles to the CT river and the Saybrook point Inn.
You may want to add to your adventure....
