Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
tripps,
You have to be ready! My wife has been real patient as I have been rebuilding to meet up with you fellows. Engine goes back in today. New drive comes Wed./Thurs. Should be ready for the test run Sat. to Claudio's. Hey jcap, Another option for you Sat. am could be the CT river. about 20 miles from Shelter. We are meeting around 10 am in Old Saybrook at the I-95 bridge. You may want to just sleep in though... Talk to you all during the week, |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Sorry, guys, I had to go on one of my inpromptu trips to Europe last Saturday nite, and it looks like I'll be here for all of July. Have a great run without me, I'll be really mad on the 10th.
|
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Patrick,
Good luck getting her back together, I know the feeling... I plan on meeting up with you guys at the i95 ramp on Saturday 9:30-10:00am. I have a Blue & White 18 Donzi . I hope the gut isn't snotty. |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Hey Vinnie,
Steve told me you sold the 42... Congrats... What will you be driving on Saturday??? Also any luck with my gas cap???? Duncan |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Hey GEOO,
I had a 1975 18' Donzi a few years back. Great ride in the rough for it's size. Took mine to Block a couple of times, got real wet... See you Saturday 10am... |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
It's a great feeling in a Classic, being so close to the water.
I know the feeling; I've gone to Block a few times from Fairfield, 8 or 10 years ago, 100miles each way. . Too long of a trip these days. Looking foward to meeting you guys. |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Are We Having A Driver's Meeting? Any Idea As To Final Count? What Time Are We Meeting In Shinnecock Bay Area ... We Should All Meet In The Bay So We Can Go Through The Locks As A Group.

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Hey Nolimits,
Any idea of a total? I know of 6 boats from the CT river... |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
man...this thread sure is buried...of course I don't get on here very often any more...work is keeping my busy...
i've put a similar run on the past couple of years...with some success...we give away t-shirts and get a pretty good turnout....her's some pics... :) http://www.thunderboatalley.com/gallery/album62 anyway, looks like you guys have put together quite a run...maybe next year we should coordinate our efforts and make one BIG run... :) Hey Vinnie, do you guys do hi-dry for a 35 foot boat? Might be looking for a new home next summer... |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Sorry guys for the slow in coming info. I spoke yet again with Claudio's today. Jerry the Brother inlaw of Bill Claudio is expecting 12 - 15 boats at 11:30 AM. Please make sure that you all arive no later than that. Remember this is Tall ship weekend, which will be cool to look at, but they will be tied up all over. Things could get tight not much after 11:30.
I was not able to connect with Greg, left several messages... Gregg where are you? In any event here is the Southern drill. Start at 8:30 Babylon (No Limits, Dragon Fire and Dot Calm) and on to Heckshire by 9:00 to meet Gferdon. The count so far is 3x29 Fever's and a 21 Checkmate. We will then meet you Vinnie outside of the Mariners Cove between 10 and 10:30. Vinnie talk to Lance, is he coming? Then through the locks and looking for Jcap, Tripps and Superbash on the otherside of the locks. At that point we are 8 or 9 strong and heading for the Northern Fleet at Claudio's. For those who have radios, turn to channel 69. My cell number is 631.220.9930, Jcap give me a call. The one thing that would be very nice is if we can eat at the same time. If you let me know how many people there is in the Northern Fleet I can try and get enough seating for us all. How about it Pat?? My boat named Seduced (4) + DragonFire (4) + Dot Calm (2) + Gferdon (2) + Vinnie (2) + Tripps (4) = 18. I don't know about Superbash and Jcap, along with the Northern Fleet. I'll estimate if I have too. Remember 11:30!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Hi all,
Sorry I have been away and out of the loop for the past few days. Steve...as you now know Ellen and I (2) will be launching my rig from Mariners' Cove with Vinnie and Allison (in the 27 Fever). I will not be back in time tonight to pickup my boat from the shop so this seemed to be the best plan. I will see you all in the morning at the appointed time and place. Vinnie, I will arrive at the shop around 0900, see you then. Weather looks great! BTW...Steve's cell number is: 631-220-9930, he inadvertently listed his home number. I think he needs a personal secreatary! GF |

I am off to bed... See you all in the morning... Boat safe!!

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
All in All ... the run is over. It was a blast. Thanks must go out to Steve for his great planning skills, and the ability to collect money when due. Hope everyone got home safe. I thought it was funny that Steve and Duncan wanted to take the short way home and we met them in the locks anyway. The run around Sag Harbor was great. We even got to join in a sailing school class on the way ...
Talk to you all soon. Looking forward to doing this again. - Vinnie MARINER'S COVE |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Thanks Steve,
Pretty neat seeing all the boat's rafted up at Claudio's. Great Time. |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Kelly and I had a complete blast. My sister and husband did as well. Thanks goes out to all that made it. Fast, exciting and safe boating. Great food and the Tall ships were too cool. I took many pictures and understand Gary and others did as well. I will ask the powers that be here to create an additional photo page for this run. That way we can all save the pictures without screwing around with pixel limits. It'll take a day or two I would suspect. Thaanks to everyone again!!
|
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Good morning everyone... Caren and I had a great time... Thanks to Steve for keeping it all together and his excellant navigational skills... If anyone has any good pix of Dragonfire please email me at [email protected].. Vinny , please let me know when that gas cap comes in 631 220 6787... By the way we left Claudios 40 minutes after you... Waiting for MIA passengers.. See you soon...

Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Those of you who have pictures (look at the Superboat site!) please be patient and wait for Offshore to set up an upload site under photo's - then - poker runs and ralley's. The upload quality and process is superior and easier. In that way everyone will get to see all the pics in one place.
Thanks for the thanks.... |
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
If anyone interested, there will be a "summer fun run" to claudios around august 14th under general discussion.
|
Re: Mid Summer's Peconic Boat Blast
Great Run Everyone!
I am planning to go to Claudio's again next Sunday Aug. 17th. Bringing my wife this time, so I'll be driving a little slower... |
