We've only been on a few runs and we've had a great time, so we really don't want to see them end.

Since there is no money involved in the fun runs I don't see how anyone could interpret them as anything other than friends going boating. Groups of friends always meet at a given place such as car shows etc. If someone gets hurt is the person who invited them responsible?

Frank,

You do make a good point. I suppose at some point someone knowledgable in the liabilities concerning this should be consulted rather than us guessing around about it. And if I know Bob he has already talked to someone in more of the know than us. Regardless I do agree that I do not want the spirit of what we have all enjoyed to move on. So if we have to change the way we go about it for a while until we can work something better out I am still all for it. Bob If I can help in anyway I stand ready.

As a side not to Craig and Jack. I think there may have to be an upcoming race between the three of us as I do beleive that I have the slowest boat in the group. Lets say meet in the playground at the end of recess

We can start at the Naples pier first thing in the morning. Bob can look out his window at dusk to see which one of us is rounding Caxambas first!!!

I'll take a piece of that action!! Hey, it's just a co-incidence that three out of the four of us are in Bajas, right??

Seriously, Bob, everything you do for FMO and offshore are greatly appreciated, and anything I can do to help, I'm ready.
There has got to be some way around this liabilty issue.

John, you and everyone else on OSO / FMO are too kind. I wish I could say that I have consulted the professionals that I need to talk to, but I was back in my office today for the first time in over 3 weeks so I'm afraid it was all business today. And oh yes, I had to pick up that replacement Blackberry ( my lifeline ! ) so I am connected again.
I expect that by early next week I will be armed with the information I need to know. As some have said, we have a really good thing going on here and we do not want to loose it. I will do everything I can to get this fixed and get back to what we all enjoy so much - a great day on the water and the camaraderie at lunch and in between runs.

Remember I'm pushing a 24 year old antique that weighs 13,000 pounds with only 1100 horsepower total. 69 on GPS.

I had a buddy weigh the trailer with the boat on it. Total trailer weight 14,710 pounds. Trailer certificate had the trailer weight at 1,635 pounds.

I hope you guys still have your fun runs, I was hoping to hitch a ride on one this year As a suggestion you might ask to have the name of this forum changed to something that does not imply you are a club, more like Southwest FL Gulf Region, then just post as a bunch of friends and co organize the runs and don't mention club at all. It will probably not be as easy without a clear cut leader but the more you muddy the waters on if there is a leader or a if there is a club, suing an organization under this circumstances would be pretty difficult
good luck

Donna, you know I always have an seat open for you and Ian when you get down.
Also I do not have the same concerns for the Georgian Bay tour planned for this coming summer as I see that as more of a cruise at moderate speed. Some of our fun runs have been run at poker run speeds with a few boats going over the horizon ( Harpoon Harry Run this year & Everglades City Run last year ) in the first few minutes.

Do you have room for one more slow boat???
Ok, I weigh 9,000 lbs. less, ...
but you have 600 hp more than me.
And my best gps has been 67.9 so far.
This should be a fun!
On your mark, get set, ..........
