I love my 288 Sunsation!

And Dave M has it bang on! Drive in neutral position (depending on X dim), and work the tabs to fly level. Because my X dim on my Sun is rather reserved, I use some positive trim. But when it gets real rough, I go close to neutral.

I believe a dual prop out drive, no matter the make, will slow you down! They are good for planing, and cruising, not top speed.

Judging by the # you see I'd guess the B1 is a better solution.

The Blackhawk issues I've read about are:
- double the prop cost (2 vs 1)
- high x-dimension not compatable with most hulls
- failures due to shifting with higher HPs. some even locked in fwd then put a tranny in for racing.
- two shafts in the same space as one make for a weaker drive. would have to be larger than B1 to have same strength (low cycle or fatigue)
- single prop is more efficient and nets slightly higher top speed

I am a little biased but My vote would be for the 28 Pantera.
Single. They take big power to run fast but they ride great and love the rough stuff. Mine has a 511 cu" BBC with twin turbos, and a left hand rotation stern powr MX-107 Drive.
I Know the other boats listed are great boats. But like I said I am biased because I have a 24 & a 28 ( by the way the 24 is for sale. ) I recently sold a brand new Bravo III , I done a little reserch trying to see if they would work ok in a high
performance boat with good HP, and I didn't get much feedback. But we may see some people try it in the future.
I heard they are making some better props for them now.

My top speed increased 8mph by simply bolting a blackhawk onto my cat.
Most hulls won't carry the nose without positive trim so the drive doesn't work well on them but on cats, the air carries the bow and the drive works real well. Only failure so far was a twisted off vertical shaft and that was due to loading while planing. Airating the drive fixed that problem. I installed a neutral safety switch bypass switch so I can start in gear but with the efi, it will shift into and out of gear with no real problems.
The drive was ahead of its time. A new one, redesigned with XR uppers to take more power would be the ticket on lots of smaller single cats for efficiency and speed.
