Indy you are correct about magnum and he decided on this name over dinner at his home in coral gables fl when they were have a magnum champaign

Donzi is derived from the latin word Donzia which roughly translated means "I wish I had a Cigarette"

in english thats pronounced "Fountain"

When Don was looking for name for the new post-Donzi company, I was watching TV one Sunday afternoon, when a Humphrey Bogart film came on. It was crooks-take-over-a-western-cafe plot. and the first scene showed Bogie fueling up his car. Name on the gas pump? Magnum. I said "That's it!". The rest is history.
