Just to clear up my 1st post. Compare them to when boats were "pre Bling" Cigarettes in the year ranges of 1999 and down (give or take). Then also compare the chiefs and sabers to the newer cigs and who is on top? I would choose Apache for pre bling and i fly the Cigarette decals on my truck.....so you know i love them both. As far as Saber, Chief vs. Cigarette....damn close call... and for fountian LOL not even being mentioned cause most of there owners put them in the tree's, up on dikes!

McManus ????? Whos that ? |
Re: Cigarette Vs. Apache
What tough is, 90% of the 41 Apaches built are bad ass and memorable.
The percentage of Cigs that fit that bill is less. |

This is what I mean... I've seen pics of 3 apaches on this thread, and not one cig to go head to head.
BTW... there are also 3 fountains in here too. :D  |
Re: Cigarette Vs. Apache
Also, Lucy's Merc special is the coolest boat I've been on.
|
Re: Cigarette Vs. Apache
The Apaches may be nice boats to a certain crowd and I respect them, but after looking at the finshwork, glasswork, cockpit and interior of many ,there is no way I would own one. I love the way they look, but the build quality(aesthetically speaking) sucks.Wavy hulls, bumpy fiberglass and interior finishwork worthy of a kit car. Sorry, I will stick with the Cig.

"interior finish work worthy of a kit car" ?
MM's boat has pirelli rubber flooring w/ at least 4-5" of foam under that. Its like standing on a firm posturepedic bed. Sure is nice on the joints. Huh, Huh... i said joints. :evilb: |

Re: Cigarette Vs. Apache
Birdog, fortunately, that boat survived Wilma............ :D
She was in the Top rack at Marina One and Wilma deposited her bow first into the concrete floor and dropped a few more on top for good measure...... :( :( I went to check on her after the collapse and all I could see were the white #6's standing up straight. |

Re: Cigarette Vs. Apache
The flat deck that Stormrider posted pictures of (post #63) is mine. Thanks for all the kind words.
It is the 3rd Cigarette that I have owned. I've had it for 9 years and gone over/replaced everything on the boat. It's a great/reliable boat. Apache is a great boat, but as you can see I'm a die-hard Cigarette fan. |

It belongs to Doug Sullivan from Indiana who is a member of the Chicago Powerboat Club. I think I know the boat that you are referring to. It`s a 96 side by side with big Chief power and white sixes. I talked to the owner at the Chicago boat show in January and he said that it escaped with relatively minor damage, all things considered. |
