That is too funny.....

Maybe this season we will see more than 1 boat in SVU... :D

Cig or Apache, both bad azz boats. I would be a proud owner of either boats!!! I can appreciate both the old school as well as the bling bling designs, both are very appealing to me. :drink:

I see you left out the rest of the sentence but I agree they should have left that part out. Fountain did quite well in Super Vee, One, Two and three.

I'd say Fountains record over the past 15 years or so speaks for itself though.

It would be real disappointing if they didn't. The class is packed with 11 of their boats. The odds are with them... :drink:

And why is that? Why does everybody want to race with a Fountain ?
You don't race to lose.

Usually because of the initial Factory support...
Then one day the next new boat gets a little extra boost from the factory and suddenly the other's aren't near the front of the pack. Example: NYC 2005.

Now why don't we leave this thread to the Cigs vs Apache. Kinda getting off topic here... ;)

Racers don't buy a boat that's going to lose based on initial factory support. Nice try though. :p

If the day gets hard enough you won't be out there, you will just stay at the dock and drink. Your comment is typical of people who have not spent time in a #6 boat. Don't get me wrong, I think your top gun is great but not only have you got no chance in big water against a 41 apache you will never catch these #6 top guns. From an efficiency standpoint and a cost standpoint your 90 mph is the clear winner. Just don't race a straight bottom #6 boat in waves over 5 feet. I don't want you to get hurt. :D

You're right Parnell, if the day gets hard enough we won't be out there and neither will you. You can't begin to tell me you actually run fast in 6-8 footers, it's just not possible. Oh yeah, #6's hold up much better than bravos no doubt!

Bobby not for anything but you know very well that my old man and me are always out there when it's ruff and you know that. just like when i went out with Randy ( wild) in his topgun when it was pouring rain and ruff as chit and you called me and said " we are going by the inside it's to ruff" right or wrong. so don;t say that people don;t go out there when it's ruff, cause that when we mostly go out :evilb:

Mike, not for nothing but I have only seen your Gun out there once as a pleasure boat. That was when you first bought it and it wasn't rough. Everytime I talk to Frank and ask him if he wants to go out for a run it's always broken.

Yes, we did tell you it was too rough that day. However, we had my mother on board who has a herniated disc in her back, my brother, and Bill's son who I don't think has been in a speed boat more than a hand full of times. Sometimes, you need to use your brain instead of your ego.

Now, if you want to go play one day let's go

The original question was a bit vague.
They both have good and bad points ..

Fountains are nothin to sneeze at iether but what happened to the dash ..aaaammm is that enough room for the stereo remote? Could they possibly get the gauges a little more centered behind the wheel , I think I can see the numbers on a couple of them

41 Apache will run 6' + seas. And don't discount a non step Top Gun. I only ask about the twin step Cigarette's because I watched one struggleing in 4' seas, maybe he had mechanical trouble...I don't know.

The drivers dash is pretty sad so is the passenger side...Looks cheap ???

But the sucker runs 109 mph with twin 600's.

Come on... A gun having problems with 4 ft seas?

Mechanical or driver or some other issue.

It's always better to go out in it then let it get slammed against the dock... No fun in that.... ;)

Parn only goes out then it's rough like 4+, I know I have been with him or along side of him when it is rough, he prefers 6+. If it's flat he takes his Skater out, he's the only guy that I know that is not happy if it's calm out. Steve

A debate that has raged on this board for ever is what constitutes 6-8's cause all water is very different and of course another debate is what is fast in rough water. Both legitmate points that never get resolved but you are very wrong about me not going out in them. That my friend is what I live for, sadly.
Also when I referred to the sixes I was not referring to 6's holding up better, that is a given. I was pointing out how much difference they make in big water. More stable and they stay hooked up so much better that any boat with them is going to run faster in rough water if the boat is the same. My top gun had bravos when I ordered it cause I couldn't afford sixes and now it has sixes and they are so much better that it's not even close to the same boat. The drives muscle the boat not the other way around. This is Nykamp and I in 4-6's last fall running 75 on Lake Michigan. No one was around to take a pic except the beach cam. Fun thread. :drink: NK
