First I think the Merc 525sc that you are thinking of is a 454 ci then add blower. I think you need to ask yourself how much HP do you want from your 502 carb, and if you really want a blower? Some engine builders offer packages to build your 502 up to around 600hp NA.

I've got two 525 efi's long blocks 2003 with 201 hrs.
Ck the classifieds ! Rebuild 1 & buy the parts from docmanrich & you will have about 540 hp on 87 octane

Johnny call Leon he has some new combinations 600-650hp very reasonbly priced, natuarally asp., pump gas ,run forever. I had some of his 509s in my old 35 ,ran for years and never touched them, this will be cheaper and faster than trying to do the 525s.
