Rich, one question that doesn't appear to have been addressed by you is, what are your top 5 vee hulls today? Or, which manufacturers do you think make the best v-bottoms today (for whatever reason, be it innovation, design, safety, workmanship, rigging whatever)?

Velocity
Phantom
Cigarette/Apache etal
Formula
Buzzi

I do, and you know what? Not only is she pretty good at it, she's ruthless if anyone challenges her.

Speaking of which, was Betty Cook's work mentioned anywhere in this thread?

Thanks for the insight Rich. I was a bit surprised after your post about the best v-bottom for running over 130mph, where you mentioned Larry Smith Scarab, that his machines didn't make your list. But, still you picked some awesome boat companies.

Yeah...the "Scarab question"...my problem and maybe it's only me. I've never been able to distinguish a longer Scarab, from a Cigarette or an Apache. But then again, maybe I don't have that good of a n "eye"....... or then again, maybe I do.

Well, my eyes don't have the benefit of years of wearing dark sunglasses, so I have to rely on people with vision more acute than mine.
