Check out this thread:

I have a box anchor, and bought a duffel bag from target big enough for the anchor and line. I also bought a mechanic's padded fender cover that I wrap the anchor in, and can lay anywhere on the boat (deck, sunpad, or swim platform) and place the anchor on temporarily. My 'system' works well for me.

Sydwayz - I've been using a Fortress anchor for years but it's a pain storing and handling as I'm sure you know. How does the box anchor work for you on your AT (about the same specs as my Sonic I think)? I've been thinking about one, but wasn't sure how it would work in the Potomac waters...

I'm probably gonna do the cruiser thing and put a anchor pulpit on the bow; I'm tired of dragging a wet anchor through the v-berth into the achor locker

I hear ya, likely will do the same at some point. There is a low profile anchor windlass that would look okay on my sonic 30SS.

Anyone who has done this please spill your wisdom!

Only once; ever have I had an issue with the Box Anchor not grabbing. I have the Large one (not the super huge, they offer three, and mine is the middle one). The only time it did not grab was in Mattawoman Creek, on the Potomac, and the bottom was REALLY loose, and NO one was having good luck with anchors that day. The Box and my little 'system' works REALLY well for me. I take the whole bag to the swim platform, or all the way to the bow to launch/retrieve the anchor. That way I don't have a muddy/wet anchor traversing the boat; just a bag with a padded anchor inside. I can store it in my gunwale compartment, (used to under the backseat before speakers), and sometimes in the cabin under the u-shaped couch.
