It sounds to me as though he probably is headed in the right direction. You have to start somewhere. He did not go out and buy a 130mph Outerlimits. It may be just the right boat for a newby to break in on.

I didn't realize that selling a boat to a newbie somehow constituted a bad thing.
Seems like I am getting some heat as if his lack of experience constitutes some kind of misrepresentation on my part.
Maybe I should have recommended Tres' "55 mph and less non-stepped hull" class.

You're right, everyone has to start somewhere. I'm sure we can all remember the first time we took the wheel to our new boat.
He'll be fine.
It's the first-time owner that decides he wants to go straight for the 40' offshore that goes 120mph that worries me, not this guy.

I sent him a couple really long emails about operation and maintenance, winterization. Do's and Dont's.
He seemed to appreciate it.
I was just kind of taken aback by the trim question.
