That video says it all!!!!!!!

Re: Apache I Am Sold
Great video.
But, me and Ratman ran his old Cig Mistress like that last November - and didn't have the problem of landing with the bow down like they are early in the vid. And in the meantime, I was trying to keep the cooler that was levitating off the floor ( between my legs - in front of my bolster) in the boat. Don't count out the old Cig's Great Classic Video though. |
Re: Apache I Am Sold
i love the cig's as well.........thats a dream boat as well.......

Re: Apache I Am Sold
THIS, is when offshore racing was the "REAL" offshore racing. Not like now, it's tamed down alot. I'd rather watch my old offshore movies from the 80's and early 90's than the stuff that's on now a days.

Hope you are well Peter - and your feet too after the accident in Florida - T3x has the library if you ever need anything replaced. Be well good friend - PHIL |

What does a 2006 Bayliner and an 41 foot race Apache have in common? They both top out at the same speed! http://boatmad.com/forum/images/smilies/likeadrain.gif You're absolutely right. The dramatic reduction in weight coupled with the multi-step bottom has given today's offshore boats a substantial increase in big-water handling ability. As a result, the long-distance races that once had to be postponed when the water got into the 8'+ range can now be run regardless of water condition. 20 years ago, no one could have dreamed that the Miami to Bimini and back run could have been done in under an hour..... P.S. Enjoy your giant ski boat. |

Re: Apache I Am Sold
I had not seen that before. Thanks for posting. That was some of the best footage I have seen. If it had been any other boat in that trip at the end, including many build to todays standards; they would have been dead.

Re: Apache I Am Sold
There are a few clean 41s running out of Anchor Marina in North East MD a few times a month, what rock solid classic rides .
Thanks for the video that was excellent . |

The Cat Killer would break up long before that old dog. Just like it did in the NC Race this week end. |

So I set all the trims to a “happy medium general type setting” and told the crew to hold on baby!!! We are going for it.. Surprisingly we finished only of few seconds behind the first boat in spite of the spine and wound up in second place UIM world Champions 1985 Ahhh the good old days Bobby Saccenti |

Now THAT is how you describe and old-school Apache running in the rough! I did notice that the first 41 in the clip had 2-4 feet of boat touching the water for 90% of the time. SICK!! |

Re: Apache I Am Sold
To me it looks like Warpath is purposely running bow down as to let more of the hull take the brunt of the waves hence the really level flight time...
