Not to bust anyones chops hear. But 1500 hp? I do not know if that is realistic. Once again. David Scott's 36 Skater ran 180 mph+ at the Fountain shoot out in North Carolina with 150hp per side less last year. The number 6 drive is also only rated to 1000. Troy Dennis was shooting for 1500 hp on the dyno in the Spring. The motor exploded on the dyno. To get to that number you need to build more boost on a very big motor. At 1500 hp in a marine application you can measure motor longeativity in minutes. Otto, what are some of the spec's on the motors? Why would you want to go 200 mph in a 36 foot boat anyway? Buy a 46 Skater. I have been in Mike Fusco's Skater with a GPS twice. Once the boat ran 177 mph and the second time it ran 183mph with the new turbines. Mike told us he estimates they are 1,400 hp. They turn huge RPM 20,000 through a Titanium gear box. The only propeller Mike has been able to hold together is the Rolla. the others all through the blades. This speed seems to be another world. Titanium gear boxes from helicopters. I do not think a Number 6 would be the right choice at 200 mph you have to use a surface drive. I have to go now but I have a lot more to add here.

Ken, the "trick" I'm told is that you need big cubes, over650, and low boost with 100 octane fuel. The motors were designed in a joint project with GM, Jessel,EPD,BDS Kurt' Marine and Barry Grant. The boat ran 153 with the normally aspirated 1000's that Kurt built for the boat last year (those motors are for sale). Not to be negative but I'm building 3 of the 1500's to be sure not to miss any boating days next year. My plan is to have a dependable package that will run 150 all day with just 5lbs of boost and be able to crank it up when necessary for times like poker runs and radar shoot outs.

Hydroscream, I don't know anything yet they won't be on the dyno for a few more days. The boat ran great with the old power, Jay at Spectre makes a great hull and he is a great guy to work with. The faster that in runs the better it feels and the tighter it gets!!

T2X, I'm not sure that I would be allowed at Doug's,you know that I have a Spectre not a Skater. I'm making some changes for next year I'm going to turn the props the right way and will probably lower them 2 inches. I already did the Herring skegs this year and they made a big difference in the handling. Also we are going to slide the motors foward about 4 inches. I'm not to concerned about the top end as I am with the ride and handling. I know that it will be plenty fast enough and that there is always someone faster. Also Huber is building a set of true dry sump tranny's for us that will be able to handle 2000 hp and reduce the drag by about 10%.

Otto, I am a Spectre owner as well. Todays Spectre owner is tomorrow's Skater owner. These guys are good people. They do not really care what boat you have. As long as you run with the pack and have respect for one another. You should really do yourself a favor and go and look at "On the prowl". He has what you are describing. They are normally aspirated 680 cubic inch fuel injected Merlins. Pat's 2002 46 Skater Supreme with V12's is also on display. You missed some good fun run's this summer. The last one was Sunday to the Dutchman. We started with 6 cats and ended with 3 on Sunday. I hope next summer we can get some good runs. Meet at seaside bridge and GO!
