I avoid trailering for the same reason that I believe these incidents. I'm still peeved at my parents for selling their house cause it was awsome. Boat on buoy in front all season and at the end boat over to the marina for them to safely take it out of the water and store for me!

Maybe to prevent a future problem, that hitch you have looks like a Rapid Hitch which I thought was only rated for 10,000 pounds. May want to verify that.
Maybe you have some bad luck but at least you're consistant
