No, not at all. Formula does hand roll their hulls. The first layer a chopper gun is used with AME 5000 resin, which is the highest quality resin used in the industry, with tri-directional glass custom made to Formulas specifications and applications. I believe the chopper gun spray is hand rolled, its just sprayed on. After the first layer its all hand rolled again with AME 5000 resin all the way through. And with the FASTechs all fiberglass structural grid you can't lose. We have found that using a chopper gun on the first layer prevents blistering and print through a lot better than hand rolling. We do use COREMAT to stop print through but using a chopper gun assists in the protection of print throughs. We manufacture our FASTechs with the highest quality in mind.

I was being sarcastic to the naysayers Jeremy. :)

Good of you though, to post the layup FACTS

these FasTechs do have some smooth hullsides with a deep gloss and devoid of print-thru just as you say.

Nice to have the actual manufacturers input here on OSO.
Thumbs up, jPorter.

Just got done shopping for a 38 or so foot boat. I my openion the top three (in no particular order) are the 38TG, 37 Active Thunder, and 39 OL hands down. I would put the new 39 Nor-tech 4th because of ergonomics and i didnt ride in one.

I think the TG is like a Harley, everyone should own one before they die. Is it the best, no but it is the design every other boat is judged by. Like a Porsche 911, same car for 30+ years but everyone still wants one. The TG is essentially the same boat they introduced in 87 with a bigger price, smaller cabin and the stepped bottom but that same unchanged classic design just like other industry icons such as Porsche 911's and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
My ultimate Cigarette would be a 39- 700's NXT boat all white with a solid stripe like in the 80's that starts at the bow and runs back to the logo on the back quarter of the boat. ASG had a retro look with his new boat with the hockey stick graphics like a Mistress had.

Formula makes a great production boat on several levels. I think the 370 SS/ 400 SS are the best of both worlds combined with a nice fit and finish/ good performance and an excellent warranty. The Fastec boats are cool but the graphics are fair and the windshield needs to be deleted for a fairing option instead. They should have done custom paint on their poker run boat and made it stand out like what Baja did with their Poker Face boat.
