That's in all oil as a friction reducer. Conventional or Synthetic. Motor Oil or an Industrial Hydraulic oil.

hydro posted something a while ago that they reduced the amout of zddp in oil because it was screwing up cats. Ever since then I've been adding Valvoline Syn Power oil treatment in my Mobil 1 fills. The Redline fills get nothing additional.

Bern, your boat always had top shelf Amsoil....if you like amsoil that is. I never cared for it.

Just say no to oil additives. If the oil needed them the oil manufacturer would have added them at blending.

Seriously. Has anyone tried "prolong" or any other molecular bonding lubricants?

My $.02

I am a fan of Lucas Oil Products, but I don't use it to extend my oil changes. I put the appropriate Lucas oil in anything with an oil pump.

The above statement is TRUE. Regarding less zinc in today's oil. That statement is also true. Not because it screws up the cats, but because the moron's thought it could screw up the cats. Anyway, most of the newer versions of API oil have an SN rating. The SN rating is the reduced zinc. If it's the older SM rating, which still exists in certain viscosities because it meets some of the import specs that has plenty of zinc. And of course "racing" oil is loaded with zinc, etc.
