Performance center consoles?

As I had said before I am thinking of making a change after this season...Looking at getting a 30-35' center console..I have been looking aroung and it seems the 3 major players in the mainstream market are Fountain, Donzi, Concept.... What others should I be looking at? I am familiar with Contender and Intrepid just too much $$$$$ for those and too slow. Any advice or first hand experience with what will be a nice ride? By the way I am not buying new! like to find something in the 2000-2004 years.

Thanks
Bryan

Call Don Holtz, He is in Seattle Wa and has about 6 leftover Concepts that he will sell below invoice. He has the cheapest price for a CC anywhere in the US. Also has a 2004 never titled 36 with triple 300x's that runs 83mph. his number is 360-731-0786

I just spent the weekend running in my friends 36 Concept. The boat is really nice. Ran extremely well in the ocean and the bay. It has twin 250's and will do 64mph. Oh and we ran for 3 days on a 1/4 tank of fuel.

This is a new Mares Center Console, built by CSI Marine the builders of Sonic Mares and Dakota. The Mares Center Console is a rough water cat designed in New Zealand by Mares. With a pair of Mercury 275 Varado outboards she has a top speed of 58 MPH Also available with diesel power. A pair of 315 Yanmars gives her a range of 800 Miles at 38 MPH and a top speed of 59 MPH. Nothing quite like her on the market and there are different packages available including 4 Engines and Cuddy. More information can be seen on the Mares web site including video. Contact the factory or your nearest dealer.

We're building a 38 cc w/ an 8.6 beam / twin step. We've already purchased the plug for the bottom. Deck and liner is the next task.

Brian,

Any proposed sketches or anything of the new CC you can share????

Thanks,

Definitely take a look at Glasstream. I believe crb76 here on OSO still has a nice one for sale.

Bryan Rose 06-25-2007 08:16 PM

All good suggestions so far but I feel I have not described what at I am looking for.....It needs to have a cuddy cabin ( have a little 17 month old that needs to get out of the sun and nap when needed , be narrower than 9 ft or so ( has to fit in the warehouse ) would like to be used but in good condition . I like the newer suggestions you have made but out of my price range.....would like to stay under about $ 70,000.00 iI know it is tough but that is my budget. I will most likely buy this winter after the season when lots of stuff is for sale, unless something really great comes along. Hoping for it to have 300x's or I would not mind it having the 250 EFI's on it either......shed some light here.............................................. .................................................. .............

Check out renegade. I personally like the lines on the 29 better.

Look for 2004-05 or so used 30 Concepts. They will be in your price range. Or an older 2000-2002 possibly used 33/36 Concept. These are narrow deep V CC's. You will not find 250xs or 300X's in your price range and most of these boats will have 225 Optimax and 225-250 efi's. I'd go with Opti's as they are more efficiant and have better resale when you want to sell and upgrade.

The 29 Renegade is another awesome choice too and seems to be a little deeper gunwale.

"Performance" and "Center Console" are a contradiction in terms.

If that is the hull I think it is and you are gonna make a CC out of it put me on the list for one. I told him to make the CC version of it but he never listened to anyone.

We just saw one of these last weekend on our lake. The tip of the bow was like 8' off the water at rest! Amazing boat and rare for our lake.

We were getting beat-up from the huge boat wakes, but this thing wasn't bouncing a bit. This guy was tearing azz all over the lake and through the roughest stuff!

hpoffshore 06-26-2007 12:13 PM

That Pro-Line 29 Grand Sport is huge..22 deg. bottom with like 5' of freeboard forward. They run very well...we've sold several. Fast & affordable.

I doubt if there are a handful here on Oso that will outrun my 21 year old resin bucket. And I certainly don't recall ever being passed by an 11 year old Baja 280 Sportfish.

Thanks for the help everyone ! I will keep my eyes open over the summer and look patiently......Still like the looks of the ZF series by Donzi. Really like the Concept but does not seem to have enough of a cuddy cabin in the front and is a bit narrower than the Donzi, might get intersting rolling around all dayin big rollers... I also like the Regulators but do not know much about them. Again thanks for the help.

I sell both Donzi and Concept both boats are exceptional running boats, Most folks have different tastes when it comes to CC. The Donzi 35ZFC is a great fishing boat, wide beam gives it stability in rollers, she will run with 250 Verados 62 mph and 67 with 275s, The 36 Concept aims its boats at the Customer who wants the bling of a Performance boat with custom paints workmanship and a solid ride with 250 Verados she will run 62-64 with 275s 66-68 mph and with 300s over 70 mph. It all comes down to what you like and your needs, you will never go wrong with either boat.

Hmmm..What props are you running on the 35ZFC to get 67mph with the 275's. I haven't seen that on a 2005 in salt water. Just curious.
