Brick N.J.?

looks like I might be in Brick next week on biz.Anyplace I shouldn't goto ? If anyone has any leads on marine contractors that install boat lifts that might be interested in my boat lift drive unit I would appreciate any names or numbers.

JoeD 07-17-2007 07:14 AM

Atlantic Lift-Jim Courtney and Extreme Marine-Rob Formatto----these two companys are tops in that area and are listed in the phone book-----as far as entertainment The Waters Edge bar and tiki in Bayville is about as close to a "Shooters " type hangout as NJ has to offer

docmanrich37 07-17-2007 07:53 AM

Thanks Joe.I will call them and stop by the Tiki for a tasty beverage.

Try the Warfside patio in Point Pleasant much closer to Brick the only problem is it's Benny time!

berns29scarab 07-17-2007 09:24 AM

there are a few places all within 30 minutes of Brick. As joe D stated you have Martells Waters Edge in Bayville, as Jersey stated The Wharfside Patio Bar in Point, you also have Martells Tiki Bar on Point boardwalk, you have the Brielle Yachtclub's Sandbar, Clarks Landing etc...no shortage of watering holes thats for sure. As far as contacts for your lift motors...defintely call Atlantic Boatlifts (Jim Courtney), Extreme Marine (Rob Furmatto), and Steve at S&S Bulkheads. Steve just did my parents bulkhead, dock, lift and jet ski lift. Steve's number is 732-779-8902..tell him Bernie Jr told ya to call...he's good people

You will have to define "Benny time" for the non-New Jersey members here. I started to laugh when I read that, it has been a while since I have heard that expression.

I am not going to touch the explaination.

berns29scarab 07-17-2007 09:37 AM

a benny is someone that comes to the jersey shore and is a non-tax payor or renter...BENNY'S GO HOME !!

jersey 07-17-2007 10:57 AM

That about sums it up

docmanrich37 07-17-2007 11:10 AM

Has anyone heard of Mentor Marine and if so do you have a working phone # for them? Thanks for all the info.

And they'll say things like "We went down the shore."

The northern folk say shore, we say beach down on the beach! :drink:

Dave M 07-17-2007 12:17 PM

are you "benny haters" ever a visitor somewhere else in this world?

Yup, I've been called a snowbird and a gringo many times but that doesn't upset me.... :drink:

It's actually an Acronym, not a name....

The term BENNY originated from the letters of the train stations on the Jersey Shore line.

When the Staten Island people come down to the Jersey Shore! The typical stereo type is an Italian guy from NY that wears one of them wife-beater g-tees. Benny.... Guido .... Gumba ...... it's all the same. (Also it's anyone from North Jersey) Hell ........ Tony Soprano would be considered a Benny down the Shore.

(Also includes them guys from NY and North Jersey that only own a summer house down the shore. Part-time residence but full time taxpayer.)

No Benny hater here! I'm actually one of them, just in a female body :p (From Brooklyn, now live at the beginning of the Jersey Shore)

Dave M 07-17-2007 03:54 PM

I'm familiar with the term. I'm just bustin' chops. I grew up in NJ, but doubt I would ever move back.

It's the same in any tourist area. The locals complain about the tourists even though the tourists are making a contribution to the local economy. Hotels, food, drink, entertainment, etc. :drink:

You hit the nail on the head; I just did not want to be the first to use the term "Benny-Guido."

GoFastSonic 07-17-2007 04:22 PM

Here is another term for benny's, we call them shoebee's, cause they wear shoes and socks on the beach or WEB's - Week End Bast**ds!! Just some other terms from a little further south on the Jersey Shore!!! Not down the shore like the news always says!!

lucky strike 07-17-2007 05:38 PM

In Florida a "benny" is a "snowbird"

Yea were overrun with Benny's this time of year, and its just as bad out on the water. All the idiots with summer house think they can buy a SeaRay and a jetski and do what ever they please out on the Bay most learn in a short period of time that this isn't the case, but some one has to keep seatow in business.:evilb:

Jigsaw89 07-17-2007 07:50 PM

Based on Lucididee's explanation, I'm a BENNY! LOL

BTW, I could have sworn the family of idiots that ran over my anchor line 2 weeks ago at Tice's Shoal were lesser experienced BENNY's to boot!

Great thread!

I enjoy watching them all hit the sand bars.... You watch them come and go, one by one....

Last weekend I saw the funniest thing ever... A benny stuck on a sandbar right.. Everyone on the boat gets out and starts pushing it.. Channel Markers....who needs em... Then the "Head Benny" gets back in the boat and proceeds to trim up the outdrive while putting it in forward and guns it, he had a 5 ft. rooster tail! :p The icing on the cake is that while he's gunning it in forward there are two other Bennys up in the front of the boat trying push the boat backwards....

So you got head benny trying to drive the boat forward while the two bennys were trying to push it backwards.... :drink:
