I can appreciate a daughter defending her father but ...

The moment Trick took payment on its first order it ceased being Fred's "hobby" and became a business. Was there some kind of big disclaimer with every order with Trick that said, "Hey, this is just my hobby, you might not get what you ordered?" Of course not.

As for difficult customers, please. If you only want to deal with "easy" customers your business will fail. The higher-end the product, the more demanding your customers tend to be--and have every right to be. Plenty of companies have dealt with high-performance boat customers for many years, and been quite successful, despite how "difficult" their client base might be.

Don't know Fred, don't know Joy, but I do know that Joy's post was an error in judgement.

As Michael Corleone said, "It's business. Just business." Being popular on a message board is no substitute for providing the goods and services your customers pay for. But it probably bought Trick Marine some time.

Joy, Delete your post... your father does not deserve that, and anyone who has spoke to either Fred or James or has ever met them, knows damn well that is not there feelings.

So much for a second generartion of Trick Marine.

Joy has also forgotten the 100 or so posts wishing Fred well awhile back went he was ill.

Schew, deleting it won't go much good considering it's been quoted 5 times now.......

Wow, I've never ordered from Trick, I'm not rich and spoiled enough I suppose? I agree with the majority of post after Joy's though, if you aren't happy in business CLOSE SHOP, but running it into the ground (the way it sounds here) has got to be harder on everyone in the long run.

Nice. Just what does it say about ethics when you hide behind your child.

If Fred really gave a schatt about any of his spoiled wrotten, whiney customers, he never would have taken their money in the first place. He would have admitted that Trick Marine could not deliver as promised.
He would be a man, step up and offer a full explaination to those who have posted here and on other sites that they have been charged money and not had goods delivered of money refunded.

I smell mail fraud charges coming if Fred doesn't step up and do what is right.

now, on a personal note:

Fred, you sure had alot of nerve PUBLICLY attacking Offshore Drillin and the SBRT boys over the Big DISHONEST, MONEY SCAMMING Scotty dealio with Gino.

Just what makes you any different at this exact moment than the illustrious BS?

How many THOUSANDS of dollars have you taken from members without delivering the goods? Less than Scotty did? More? Does it really matter? It sure as heck should.

You took members money for product that was never delivered. You or your staff LIED about the product, its delivery schedule and when all else failed, the refunding of monies owed.

Sounds like DISHONESTY to me.

Now your daughter comes on OSO in a very failed attempt to defend you and Trick Marine and only makes things look worse than they already appeared. Just what the heck is that all about?

Are you trying to generate sympathy just as Big Scotty did with his poor Racheal thread? Is that how you want to resolve these very serious issues?

I had reserved my judgement on you during the unfolding of this thread until your daughter had the balls to post as she did. Too bad hers are apparently bigger than yours right now.

Signed in disgust
a former customer of Trick Marine.

Spoiled rich kid?? Maybe?? Yeah, I've been guilty of being that guy too - I'll admit it. Times change, and the $$ ain't where it used to be.
I'm not one of the rich boys around here, and I think her take on the performance boater, for the most part, is probably correct. I'm lucky to be able to play in this game, and most here would probably look at my boat and think nothing of it. But it means a helluva lot to me.
That being said, lack of communication is the biggest problem here.
Fred, Joy, I'm very sorry that this has all come about. I'm certain you will make good on your outstanding transactions.
Fred, I consider you a friend of many years - keep your chin up.
Hey BOUY it stills boils down to communication,We all want our chit tomorrow but if its unrealistic were usually told that.If i order Hering props from Teague and bob tells me 3 weeks there done, not on my CC till shipped ,If i order from Dyna flow and they say 10 days its 10 days .This thread been on since the 5th and 12 days later JOY hops in and basically talks some crap.i'm not out a dime but some of our fellow OSO bros are out some serious cake for the time being and they may not be rollin in dough to just chaulk it up to a loss and move on.

Expecting to have it done overnight?! YES if the situation calls for it. Ever hear of expediting an order?! Sure he should charge a premium for it but who wouldn't be trying to make a poker run the next day? I have been involved in almost all aspects of this industry and if Fred is so suprised by this then he obviously didn't do his homework. Powerboaters are some of the most demanding customers why? Because a lot (not all) are very successful at business and know how to get things done. They're not push-overs in the business world nor are they gonna be when it comes to their time and toys.

I warn anyone who is considering getting in this industry to do their homework and work at a similar business prior to opening their own. It is NOT the flash and glamour that you may think it is. It is a DEMANDING industry, and I wouldn't have it any other way...
Spoiled rich kid, Eh?
Expediting an order, yes, know all about it, and as the consumer, I'm willing to pay the premium, but I'm also educated in which vendor can handle my demands.
I use certain vendors for a normal order, and in emergency issues I may use a different vendor - and pay the premium.
So if you did something stupid, and broke something on
Friday night, you expect a replacement Sat. morning because of your check book.

In my FULL response, I also said he lacked in communicating the details on shipment. His fault.
I remember when Fred was starting this business, and it was more of a favor to everyone here that he was doing it. It wasn't to make an Iconic Co. And now, he's being eaten alive by his own - the people that encouraged him to start this in the first place.
For the record, I've never met the man, or have I ordered anything from him. I just know him from talking with him here. And I think he has the best of intentions, although he may have had some trouble following through on those.

Is it really a favor if you intend to open up shop? Shounds like he was starting small and working bigger?

I never make posting online personal so I'm gonna stop right here. You've said enough to prove my point.

The funny thing is until the Joy post, most of these posts were "Fred is a great guy, but I want my just do from the business" or "I hope he's okay". It is just very strange how this whole thing is going down after all the contact Fred has had with people on this board.
