Thanks for the feedback. I don't think I'll be ready to pull the trigger until next spring, but I'm exploring all my options right now. If anyone comes across anything, let me know.

I have the 39 it is my 3rd kryptonite, same power and weight as my gladiator, just set up a little different. if the boat was tweaked a little bit it would spank my gladiator, and handles alot better. the boat is for sale. hope it goes soon, or going to cut the deck off and put a skater flat deck with a canopy on it and race it in p2 class in (were else) the OPA.

Bad Boy Powerboats builds a 32 with single pwr that is pretty hard to break. 1 750 puts you well into the mid to high 80s and we are dialing to 90 boat feels amazing in flat water and flys true in the rough.

PS that is the 38 and not the 32 currently dont have many good pictures of the 32, too busy running it

That boat would be sick with a flat deck and canopy. I never liked the way the deck looked on that boat. They missed with the twin canopy attempt.
It looked like you had some handking issues in Key West with the Gladiator. I was watching from the rocks next to the pits and it looked like it was chine walking with the cross chop.

We recked the herrings on the first day, and ran with bravos the rest of the time. The kryptonite has a lot more room in it for biger motors and trans. Leaning towards a pair of 700's w/nxt's.

I thought that I saw a 27 kryptonite race boat for sale called Wanted a little while ago. I notice that is the name of your boat....same race team?

Yeah, definitely like the lines on the 29 and people seem to have all good things to say about it. I saw that Insanity boat when I did the CT River Run this past fall. Sharp looking boat! (They both are)

Yeah, I remember seeing that one for sale for a while, glad you got it sold. I would plan on keepng my next boat for a while, so not too concerned over how long it would take to sell. Thanks for the input/pics.

Paisan 12-25-2007 11:18 AM

Looking at a 27' CC made in 2003. I'm assuming that this would be the same as a 27' non CC? What's the width on these hulls? Thanks for all the great feeback, just a little leary of pulling the trigger on a relatively unknown name (to me).

Hey Paisan, glad you found this thread. I didn't want to have to cut and paste all my comments. Sorry about your Baja, hope you can work it out.

As far as the 27' CC Kryptonite, it is the same hull as the Sport/F1 boats. It has an 8' beam and is very fast. It runs as well in the rough stuff as the sport models. I had the chance to take a ride in one when my sport was being built. It does have a low freeboard which makes for good fishing however you do feel a little exposed. It did run dry for a boat that size however.

What about the freeboard on the 29....is that the same as the 27 ? (I imagine it would being that they are the same hull, just with a swim platform).

Tom thanks for the info. Yeah as a long-time user of forums, I used the old Search Button after you said there was a thread on it. Low free-board is not a good thing for me :( But a dry ride is good. I'm trying to compare it with Concepts, Scarabs and Renegade Center Consoles in terms of freeboard. Anyone have any input on that? Also any input on a roughly 30' performance boat with twin outboards? Just had bad luck on both my last 2 I/Os in terms of the steering pins and gimbles so I'm gonna try outboards this time around.

Thanks again for everyone's input on this thread.

Here are a few pics of Purnell in his old 27 Krypto. That was one incredible boat and the 39 is just as impressive, only bigger.

Hey, does the 27 take as big of a chit as the 29? Always wondered that...

It was a joke meant for my brother(Big Time). He was asking about the swim platforms between the 27 & 29. Love the Krypto's!

If you are looking for a 30' cc check out my Carrera in the classifieds. It is an unbelievable boat, great proven offshore race hull with 250xs outboards runs just under 70mph (I really haven't dialed it in yet). I am looking to get back into a larger faster boat again so I am selling it. It is a 2008 and only has about 16hrs on it.

I also had a 29 kryptonite and have been in the cc version. Runs great but the freeboard is very low. The freeboard on the concept and carrera are almost identacle.

Paisan 01-01-2008 12:23 PM

Thanks I'll check it out, but a 2008 CC is most likely not in my budget :(

Nope, I should have quoted my bro. My bad!

Paisan 01-02-2008 08:22 AM

Thanks for the input guys. Wife checked out a few CCs at the NYBS and she loved the 32 Sunsation, so I guess I'll be shopping for a used one of those. She didn't like the low free-board on the CCs and didn't like any of the cruisers we looked at.

Kryptonite 104 on GPS

I saw a vid you posted of a Kryptonite doing 100MPH... Is it Mike's boat? If so I rigged the boat. I own Glen Harbor Marina in Watkins Glen. I have the boat back, he chipped a few gears in the lower. But yeah what a great ride. He is up to 104 on GPS now. and stabil.. I just bought one for myself. I hope to pick it up by the end of the month. I thought your Dyno sheet showed 950HP, I must be wrong was it was 850? If it is the same boat you guys built a rock solid motor. its been 3 years I think and no breakdowns, except the lower, but not bad with all that HP. I am on him to freshen the motor.
Take care,
Don

Philm 07-16-2009 01:53 PM

I bought Lightspeed's old Kryptonite. 800hp/598ci JC Performance gets a solid 100+mph any time I want with a 32" labbed Bravo 1.

I was disappointed with it at first with the 29" Hydromotive P-5 on it because I felt that it lifted the stern too much and made it walk all over the place, but that Bravo 1 made it a whole different boat. It runs so stable now that even my girl has run it up to 97mph with no issues.

DonRoc 08-01-2009 06:31 AM

I have a chine walk issue around 83mph, does anyone have the ITS, on there Kryptonite? if so what drives are you running. I have a -3 Imco, the Hydromotive prop was bad the Bravo is better but still not there. I have a 2002@ 104 mph and never experinced this. But the 2005 I just bought is terrible. Any advise

Are you measuring your X from the center pad? Or the higher notched area of the transom just in fron of the drive? I am measuring from the center pad which is lower. I am 3.0" below the center with the ITS and a -3 Imco Extreme SC. Did you experiance any chine walk at all? Mine gets pretty rough going side to side over 83 MPH. I noticed the Hydromotive P5 is really bad, the Bravo 30 is better the bravo 28 is good but I am running too many RPM's. I think a labbed 30 would be perfict for RPM's but wonder why the 28 is more stabil. Any advise will be appreciated. thank You
