The big thing with this kind of racing is preparation. If you prepare the boat to finish that is the most important thing you could do.

Forget about speed and horsepower, the boats that will be coming home first are the best prepared ones. Crews that operate inside a safe margin and really know the boat and what feels safe in operating it. Your boat should do fine.

Besides, 20 years from now when you are walking down Florida Avenue in Buenos Aires and someone sees your participant patch, they won't ask how fast you went or where you finished, they will want to hear all about a real offshore adventure in the spirit of Don Aronow.

Welcome aboard, you are the kind of guy we are looking for.

Well said Charley .
Yep, we will worry about the FAST boats !!We will be bringing alot of very fast boats but making sure that they can finish will be the hard job !
Remember ,it,s only 100 miles ,Right??

If i remember right ,in the late 80,s there was a race to Nassua, and back to Miami. The fastest boats were beat by a Magnum !The slowest boat filled with 18 people drinking champagne arrived 1st.
All the fast cats and vee,s lost to a boat that didn,t even run 70 mph .

Larry you are right! BUT, the water was huge and the magnum was a 63' (not sure) and Yes we broke!
Later,

.

Forget about 20 years from now. With the average attention span and lack of historical perspective of most performance boaters, 2 years from now 50% of them will think Don Aronow was in this race............ and, of course, presume that Reggie Fountain won it......:D:D:D:p
