Is this the answer to the discontinuation of the big block?

What I'm having a hard time with is all the rumors that say the 496 is going away, but nothing is said about Merc's blue motors. So maybe the 496 does go away, but GM will still make 502 blocks for Merc, perhaps other manufacturers, and the aftermarket? What about all the other BBC parts in the GMPP catalog? Will all that cease to be produced? I just don't see BBC production halting entirely. I find it hard to believe that GM would abandon the heavy truck and industrial market for gas motors and only offer a forced-induction motor. I have to believe marine and industrial is easy money for GM.

They still manufacture the 4.3, 5.0, and 5.7's. When was the last time you saw those in a car or truck?
