I'm starting to get some reports that agree with this statement.........stay tuned, what a shame! Here is a couple of pics of sea conditions that day........Yeow, a submarine!

That's no disrespect at all to Kemosabe, because it's a badass boat. I love Paleface too.

I agree, you can't really compare it to a closed canopy, epoxy lay up, stepped bottom boat, that would be like comparing a new Z06 Vette to an old Hemi Cuda'

I have spent many hours on Kemo and for a nearly 20yr old open cockpit 18,000lb resin bucket V-bottom IT SETS THE BAR FOR WAVE CRUSHERS. You nail the throttles and it pins you back in the bolsters and it is surprisingly very nimble.

So, any more info about the structural failures? I know I have seen some pics of a drive damage from that race.

Comanche, those are all great vids. I love the old stuff. Is it me or do you agree, it seems all the racing today seems to be in much smoother water and the races are so short. There are no long straight aways in big rough seas like there used to be. The one rough race I was looking forward to watching was Atlantic City, and they cancelled it cause it was too rough. I wonder if it was really too rough, or rough like it was in the old days.

No doubt about the speed of the new boats. Talking about the ride at the end of the day you know what boat you were riding in. Black and blue or no black and blue.

Well, rough water is really exciting, challenging, and of course dangerous. A powerboat's sea keeping abilities and a race team that can utilize them really come into play. Famous & infamous offshore racers like Aronow & Kramer loved rough seas and were entertaining to watch. The water in AC 2010 was their type of water, and yes it was dangerous, but that was what made offshore powerboat racing great & set it apart, on a higher plateau. It had an air of danger to it. Rough water really exemplifies the boat manufacterers & race teams. Something small water and high speeds can not equal. Just my opinion.

They switched to Outerlimits this season though, right? I could be wrong, but that says a lot about outerlimits. It'll take years for anyone to publicly prove to be a better wave crusher than Apache in the racing circuit, but I think outerlimits will be the first to supersede.
