Cumberland is an extremely difficult place to navigate at night. Running at anything above idle speed in some of those areas is ridiculously irresponsible. I have been there many times at night and the way the geography is makes it near impossible without, at the very least, moon light. If alcohol was indeed a factor about all i can say is i am glad no one else lost their life, this is so senseless and easily avoidable.

Who would rent Hi Performance boats? They would have to be out of there mind! Insurance and Liabilitys and turning over the keys to a person that has not been to a class or ran a boat like that. Its a shame and my prayers go out to everyone involved.

I read on another site that he and a good friend partnered on the boat. They have had it for 5 years.

Very sad, hopefully everything goes well next weekend for the Poker Run., as there are many more people in performance boats running around at night. Heck look what happened last year, 2 boats grounded in the same spot. I'm going to leave Harmon before dark, head straight to State and stay there.

My thoughts exactly. In fact, I was even thinkin... damn, I might have to make a trip there and rent one...

If it sounds too good to be true.

Still doesn't change the facts in this sad story.
Again, condolences to all his friends and family.

Hate to read about a loss of life. Any accident with a fatality is one too many. RIP TJ. I personally am scared as hell to boat at night even in waters i have boated in for the past 2 years. Not saying i do not occasionally get caught in the dark but can see how accidents unfortunately can happen very easily at night.

Last month 5 guys under 25 were killed in a boating accident around a curve out here(Blind River) when 2 boats made mirroring images of each other at the last moment. Really sent shock waves through the community.
