Well It is time for a change-Poker Runs and Racing
#451
My $.02. Just a basic thought on overall poker run execution that will include some previous thoughts with maybe a little slant on them.
1. Treat a poker run as an exhibition, possibly even choreographed to an extent, with all drivers onboard. Kind of like an air show w/o threading the needle and running so close. Rather, let each boat strut their stuff just a bit on designated stretches. Maybe even take turns. Have some fun with it... get creative... just keep it organized and safe. Done right, egos can be stroked plentifully.
2. Keep the public informed during via a radio broadcast with signs on shore, on patrol boats, etc that give the radio station frequency. Something like the LOTO Shootout. Include and inform the public and they'll be more receptive.
3. Enforce the rules.
Overall... more of a "celebration" of performance boating rather than a "competition."

Great!!!! So we'll have a possibility of four more open cockpit turbine boats competing for first card stop bragging rights? Some folks are going to have to really cut the corners closer to get a more competitive angle during the runs in order to "win". LOL

I find it helps me better frame a solution if I write out the problem.
1) The first flight guys care about who is in front, alot. Bragging rights, economic incentives, ego use whatever motive(s) works for you but the videos floating around clearly show operators willing to risk their lives to run out front.
2) If the event imposes a blanket speed limit that eliminates that which they care most about are they going to show up?
3) Are tens of thousands of spectators going to show up to watch a speed limited choreographed parade or exhibition run? what about without the first flight guys in attendance?
I am not endorsing or condemning. Just trying to see if any consensus can be reached.

2) Poll the big dogs on this site. Maybe a high enough speed limit on the speed sections would appease them. Then again, if they're not racing, maybe they'll say "screw it".
3) Poll everyone else on this site as a possible indicator. Definitely doesn't 100% represent the general public on the lake, but it might be interesting to see responses.

Good questions.

With a few exceptions the big dogs have remained silent since the LCPR crash and why would they reply to a poll ? Regardless of polls what makes the promoters follow whatever would evolve from this website ? One of the core problems is their is no governing body that controls a significant number of P. R's.
